The Ibadan South East local government chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today rounded off its ward to ward campaign tour with a call on the electorates to cast their votes for its chairmanship candidate, Hon. Alawode and all the 12 councillorship candidates presented by the party for next Saturday’s council election.
The campaign rally which took place at wards 6.7, and 8 saw party leaders, stakeholders, candidates and other party faithfuls moving round places like Bere, Oranyan, Labo, Ita Ege, Elekuro, Orita Aperin, Adesola, Olorunsogo, Muslim, Owode Academy, Odinjo, Ile tuntun, Ilupeju, Kudeti, Idi Arere down to Adelabu market at Orita Challenge, nooks and crannies of Ibadan South east local govt area and ended at the Felele residence of the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the party,, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja.
The party had embarked on this rigorous campaign tour across all the 12 wards which commenced on Friday 12th April, 2024 with the sole aim of canvassing the electorates towards securing landslide victories for the party’s chairmanship candidate and all the 12 councillorship candidates respectively.
The highpoint of yesterday’s rally was the presentation of the community and party award to the council Chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Alawode by the party and the community in ward 8 in appreciation of his Sterling and outstanding performance in the outgoing first term tenure.
While presenting the award on behalf of the stakeholders and the entire community in ward 8, the Director-General of the campaign committee, Hon. Ademola Ige and Alh. Basiru Olasupo said the motive was to appreciate Hon. Alawode’s PDP led govt for his outstanding performance.
While addressing the mammoth crowd that besieged his residence, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja commended the resilience, enthusiasm, unity and peaceful rally displayed throughout the campaign which he said he was optimistic will translate to one hundred percent victory for the party at next Saturday’s election.
Amb. Arapaja while congratulating all the party’s candidates in the said local government in advance, he enjoined them to replicate what Governor Makinde is doing in the state since he came on board so that the people can felt the impact of democracy at the grassroot level.
“I have been saying it and I will continue to say it that Governor Seyi Abiodun Makinde is the best performing Governor I have ever seen in Oyo State and this is the reality that his detractors may not like to hear. I therefore enjoin you all to go out next week and deliver your polling units for our party.” Ambassador Arapaja stated.
Earlier in his remark, Hon. Emmanuel Oluwole Alawode expressed his profound gratitude to Amb. Arapaja, Prof. Daud Sangodoyin, Hon. Akeem Ige, Alh. Tiamiyu Abidikugu, Hon. Mayor Oduola, Dr. Kazeem Abidikugu and all the party leaders, exco and individuals that made financial contributions towards the success of the campaign as well as the community leaders in ward 8 for the award bestowed on him.
He promised not to betray the confidence reposed in him when he assume office for second term.
In attendance at yesterday’s rally were the Vice Chairmanship candidate, Hon. Teslim Ogundeji, party Chairman, Engr. Sulaiman Adesina, Secretary to the Local Governmen, Hon. Sunday Babatunde, Hon. Kunmi Adesina, Speaker of the house, Hon. Ayodeji Oladepo, Hon Temitope Yusuf Supreme, Hon. Iyabo Kobiowu all the 12 wards councillorship candidates, party leaders, religious leaders and supporters.
