    Makinde Approves Rehabilitation of 12 Feeder Roads in Ibadan, N645m For Land Owners In Ajia

    …UNESCO Grants Approval For Sango Festival

    The administration of Governor Seyi Makinde has awarded contracts for the asphaltic improvement of 12 inner roads in the state capital Ibadan, making up a total of 85.74km.

    The commissioner for public works and Transport, Professor Kehinde Sangodoyin stated this during a press briefing, noted that the decision was part of resolutions reached at the state executive council meeting.

    The roads to be rehabilitated include General Gas, Iyana Church, UI, Eleyele, others, within Ibadan will further enhance socio-economic development of the state.

    Sangodoyin also explains that the council has granted approval for the construction of about 5 bridges across the state, noting that the construction of 32.2 km and 16.7 km lot 1 and 2 east wing of the Senator Rashidi Ladoja circular road has been approved.

    Also, the commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Mrs Toyin Balogun confirms the approval of 645 million naira as compensation for some land owners in Ajia as a result of acquisition of 100 hectares of land for the construction of an ICT centre, general hospital and an Air Force Base.

    The Commissioner for information and orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade equally hints on approval of the council for the establishment of Oyo state rule of law enforcement authority to instil a culture of orderliness in the people.

    On his part the commissioner for culture and tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun disclosed that approval has been granted to Oyo state by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for its annual Sango festival after 25 years of applying, while acknowledging that the festival will now impact on tourism potentials and attract investors into the state.
