Makinde charges Man’O War to complement govt’s efforts at tackling insecurity
Governor ‘Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, has charged the Man’O War to redouble its tasks at complementing government’s efforts at tackling insecurity at the grassroots level, now that the state is confronting with serious security challenge.
The governor gave the charge, on Thursday, while receiving the deputy national commander of Man’O War, Gbenga Adewusi, in his office on a courtesy call.
Makinde noted that the nation itself is faced with insecurity challenges right now all over the place.
He said:”Yes, the nation is faced with insecurity challenges right now all over the place. We have insurgency in the North East, banditry in the North West. We have herders/farmers clash in the North Central zone of the country. And we thought those were far remote but now, they are at our door steps.”
“Here also in Oyo State, we have been dealing with kidnapping, farmers/herders clashes and people have suddenly become temperamental. If you are walking on the street, you will see that there are some issues that will happen and people settle amicably. But now, they will almost kill themselves”
“So, this is a period that Man’O War will need to double its efforts and look at programme at the grassroots level where we can project more on the issue of citizenship and leadership for our country.”
“In schools, we have discussed with the Honourable Commissioner for Education before now on the issue of security. Some of the schools are not properly fenced. Hoodlums use schools to hibernate. I know they have put together a proposal on fencing and having demarcation for all of the schools but this idea of deployment of Man’O War for security and surveillance, is a welcome idea. We will look at the proposal and we should be engaging either the Nation or State Command Team to ensure that this can see the light of the day and I think it is something that we will do.”
Earlier in his remark, Commander Adewusi, expressed appreciation to the governor for the good leadership qualities be has shown in the state, adding that what they have seen in the state was different from what was happening in other states.
“Your Excellency, the Man’O War is very grateful to you and we appreciate the leadership you have shown. You have shown capacity in Oyo State. What we see here is different from what we see in other states in the Southwest. You have also shown that you are very committed to this task.”
“We know that Oyo State is currently faced with a lot of challenges, especially being an opposition party but we pray that God will not leave you alone and help you fight the battle,” he prayed.
I’m also a man o war
Nice move to our indefatigable governor, may God continues to protect you and strengthen you in all capacity.
