Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Sunday, donated an 18-seater bus to the United Missionary Church of Africa, Igbeti, Olorunsogo Local Government, declaring that promotion of religious harmony remains the hallmark of his administration, adding that Makinde is a talk and do Governor.
The governor, who was represented by the Executive Chairman Oyo State Mineral Development Agency, Hon Abiodun Oni said that the decision to donate the vehicle was in line with the promise made by Governor Makinde to the church on December 25, 2020.
He said that the new vehicle will go a long way in the helping to promote the purpose it is meant for.
His words:
“Let me state clearly that governor Makinde is one of us in Igbeti. He is part and parcel of the story that came out sometimes in this town but, above all, he is a philanthrophist and he has always been before became the governor.
“He came to our church in December 25th last year during the occasion of our father, Chief Jacob Adetoro Gbadebo’s birthday and one of his Promises was that he would give us a bus for the evangelism of the Lord. And you know that he is a talk-and-do governor. Whatever he says he will do, he will always do.
“So, what we are seeing today is the fulfilment of the promise he made to us and we are really thankful to God. We are also thankful to him for making this possible. We are all overjoyed that this came to pass and we can be rest assured that the bus will be used for the purpose it is meant for.
“I want to also say that he is the governor of everybody in Oyo State. He has the interest of everyone at heart; muslims, Christians and even the traditionalists. He will always do whatever that is required of him to do.”
Reverend E.A Onipede while receiving the vehicle on behalf of the congregation, appreciated the governor for always having the interest of the people at heart.
He also prayed for the success of the present administration in Oyo State and wished the governor the sufficient grace to enable him to lead the state to greater heights by fulfilling his campaign promises.
