Makinde’s Aide, Victor Olojede Urges New FIBSU Executive to Promote Association’s Development
The Special Assistant to Oyo State Governor on Students Affairs, Hon Victor Olojede has advised Oyo State students in abstain from activities that could jeopardized their future.
Victor stated this on Saturday at the inauguration of Federation of Ibadan Students’ Union National Council held at Mapo Hall, Ibadan. According to him, “today’s inauguration is to usher in new elected executive for FIBSU, it is my duty to ensure the event was colourful.
More than ever before, this is the first time in the history of the union in a long time that the association had such colourful and wonderful event. I want to sincerely appreciate His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde for his approval for the programme and all the local government chairmen in Ibadan that supported the success of this inauguration.”
“Moving forward, my advice for students is that we must work together, there must be synergy, like Governor Makinde usually say, it must be business unusual, we must do the right thing, we must target the right thing. FIBSU should not be used as political agent but as agent of change and development of the association. We as government are mapping out leadership programmes for all indigenous associations in our state.”
Speaking on the issue of FOSSU, Victor said the Hon Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Seun Fakorede and other authorities from the ministry of education met with them yesterday and we got to know that the governor approved N250m for bursary and scholarship and the Governor has started paying bursary and the local government chairmen are also doing their best in that regards.”
On his part, the Special Adviser to Governor Makinde on Tourism and Culture, Hon Akeem Ige congratulated the newly inaugurated students’ union under the leadership of comrade Olalekan Yusuf. The former local government chairman and lawmaker said a nation that fails to develop her students or supports students on whatever programme, such a nation would never develop. Hon Ige charged the new executive to continue as good ambassadors of Ibadanland.
