Mobile Police Squadron(MOP72) Was Approved for Oke Ogun not Relocated From Oyo– Taiwo Adisa
The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde, Taiwo Adisa has set the records straight on the criticisms trailing the the newly commissioned Mobile Police Squadron (MOP 73) at Ago Are on Wednesday, 27 2020 by Governor Seyi Makinde.
“According to the Governor’s spokesperson he said, “it is not true to say that the Mobile Squadron base (MOP 72), was relocated from Oyo to Ago Are. That’s not the situation.”
“The truth is that Governor Seyi Makinde sought and got the approval for the Mobile base from the Inspector General of Police for Oke Ogun, during one of his trips to Abuja in August 2019.”
“The Mobile Base approved by the Inspector General of Police and was specifically meant for Oke Ogun and not any other part of Oyo State.”
“Though Oyo State is big enough to accommodate many more Mobile Bases, but there should be no confusion about Ago Are.”
“The opposition is apparently trying to divert attention from the monumental and unprecedented achievements recorded by Governor Seyi Makinde in his first 365 days in office.”
“They don’t need to cause disaffection among communities because the governor has assured all that he will spread development evenly across the zones of the state.”
“Ago Are is the most appropriate location for the Mobile Squadron if you are dispassionate enough because it has a ready made site, it is strategically located in the Ogun axis to place the security outfit in a vantage position to deal with security challenges across that zone and the international corridors the Nigerian/ Benin Republic Border.”
“Remember the essence is also to enhance safety of Agriculture and Oke Ogun is really a veritable agriculture base and food basket of Oyo State.”
“The IGP promptly approved the request by Gov Makinde and the security team which combed Oke Ogun for the appropriate site found Ago Are the most suitable.”
“There was abandoned property belonging to the Nigerian Tobacco company which had been handed over to the monarch of that town. It readily comes on hand for immediately take off. There is nothing about politics here please.”
