Olubadan Coronation: Ibarapakan Lauds Makinde’s Efforts in Promoting Yoruba Culture
Member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, on Friday, July 12, 2024, joined the sons and daughters of the ancient city of Ibadan in celebration of the coronation and presentation of staff of office to the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadan Land.
The event, which took place at Mapo Hall, Mapo Ibadan, attracted political functionaries and crème de la crème from every sphere of life.
At the event, the executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, installed His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadan Land amid pomp and pageantry in the presence of large gathering of indigenes of the ancient city.
Hon. Adepoju, who attended the programme with other House of Representatives members from Oyo State, congratulated Governor Makinde on the coronation of the new Olubadan. He said that despite the struggle leading to the coronation, the executive Governor of Oyo State has proven to be a leader par excellence and one who will never be intimidated or coerced to do what is not right and just.
“I want to seize this historic moment of celebration to congratulate the sons and daughters of Ibadan, especially my leader, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on successfully presenting yet another staff of office to another Olubadan of Ibadan Land during his time as Governor. This ancient city has just made a very powerful statement through your patience that, regardless of your differing perspectives, the unity, peace, harmony and stability of the largest city in West Africa matter a lot to you,” Hon. Adepoju stated.
The House of Representatives member reiterated that history would be kind to Engr. Seyi Makinde for continually promoting Yoruba culture, custom and tradition.
“What we are doing here today is in furtherance of Engr. Makinde’s efforts to promote our traditional institution, and this well-organised ceremony is a demonstration of that. He has set the pace; we can only pray to God for future leaders of this state to follow that path, which has distinguished our state among other Yoruba states in Nigeria.
Ibarapakan also prayed for continued peace and prosperity that the present state administration has brought to every community in Oyo State, the strength for the new Olubadan to enjoy his reign and the capacity and wisdom for Governor Makinde to continue to steer the ship of the state to the path of progress and development.
