The Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Hon. Akeem Olatunji, has strongly condemned the recent rumors alleging the impeachment of the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Taofeek Azeez, describing it as an unfounded act of mischief driven by those seeking to destabilize the council.

Speaking through a statement on Wednesday, Olatunji said the era of political brigandage and legislative rascality was over, warning that any attempt to undermine the sanctity of the legislature or create unnecessary tension in the council would be met with firm resistance and perpetrators held accountable.

He stated that the council under his watch would not tolerate any illegality disguised as political maneuvering, stressing that those behind the false impeachment story would be held accountable for their actions.

“The era of political brigandage is long gone in Oluyole. We have moved past the days when people used legislative institutions for selfish ends. Whoever is behind this baseless rumor will be held responsible for any act of illegality or breach of peace it causes,” Olatunji said.

The chairman reaffirmed his confidence in Hon. Taofeek Azeez’s leadership of the legislative arm, describing him as a disciplined and loyal lawmaker who has worked closely with the executive to promote grassroots development in the local government.

He urged members of the public and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) family in Oluyole to disregard what he called “a coordinated attempt to sow disunity and confusion” within the council, assuring that peace and order remain intact.

Olatunji further emphasized that the local government remains focused on delivering good governance and sustaining the people-oriented vision of Governor Seyi Makinde across all wards of Oluyole.

Recall that Hon. Azeez, popularly known as Iwo, had earlier dismissed the news of his alleged impeachment as baseless and misleading. In his statement, he described the move as “anti-people, anti-democratic, and selfish,” questioning where and under whose authority such a supposed sitting took place.

He maintained that no such impeachment had ever been listed or discussed in any of the council’s official sittings, and urged security agencies to remain vigilant against attempts to destabilize the area.

Azeez also reassured the public that he remains the duly elected Leader of the House, committed to supporting the legislative agenda of Governor Seyi Makinde and the executive chairman.
