Only the deaf and blind won’t notice Makinde’s achievements – Oyedokun Timothy slams Sheik Bello
PDP chairmanship candidate in Ogbomoso South local government Hon Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy has replied popular Islamic cleric Sheikh Muhideen Ajani Bello that it’s only a blind, deaf and dead man that won’t notice change in Oyo State since Engr Seyi Makinde led administration took over.
This is in reaction to a statement by Sheikh Muhydeen Ajani Bello who said that nothing has changed since the immediate past Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi left office in May 2019.
Bello made this disclosure while speaking at the maiden annual Ishaq Abiola Ajimobi memorial Ramadan lecture held on Wednesday in Ibadan
In a statement made available to journalists signed by Media Assistant to the PDP Chairmanship Candidate for Ogbomoso South local government Mr Oluwafemi Ajiboye, he said its a pity that the Muslim cleric could decend so low to say nothing has changed in the pacesetter state since the end of last administration.
He said ” The Muslim cleric should be asked when Oyo state workers were owned salary last, when last did retirees troop out to protest in Oyo State, is LAUTECH and other tertiary institutions the same, not to talk of developmental projects. He should go to Apete area in Ibadan, visits our stadias, Under G – LAUTECH road and lots more and see himself.
“During Ajimobi’s government, public sector in the state was paralyzed, but now we now see a new working public and private sector with investors coming into the state. Was Ajimobi blind in its Eight years to see Government properties such as Agbowo shopping complex to be rooting and a Muslim cleric can be saying nothing has changed.
He added that despite the myriad of challenges that faced the nation, Engr Seyi Makinde led administration was able to record huge successes reducing infrastructural deficit of the state.
According to the Hon Oyedokun , with the attendant economic meltdown, the COVID-19 pandemic and the aftermath of the #EndSARS protests, among other challenges, efforts of Seyi Makinde administration in fixing the health, education and Economy sectors have yielded positive results, while the administration was also able to grow the Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, of the state.
“ Moribund industries such as the Pace Setter Quarry and Asphalt Plant, Ijaiye; Agbowo Shopping Complex, Ibadan and Pacesetter Fruit Processing Company, Oko, were handed over to concessionaires.
“His Excellency also ensured teachers’ training and completed the recruitment of teachers to reduce the student-teacher ratio in our secondary schools. The lingering issue of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) was resolved , and Oyo State is now the sole owner of the institution.
“Healthcare sector witnesse improvements, not only in infrastructure but also in recruitment and training. As the Government took advantage of the pandemic to upgrade and rehabilitate Primary Healthcare Centres (PHC) at Igbo Ora and Awe, as the PHC at Aafin in Oyo Town and ALGON Comprehensive Health Centre at Eyin Grammar, Ibadan were renovated and equipped. We now have one Infectious Disease Centre at Olodo, In Ogbomoso; one wing of the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital was renovated .
“If Sheikh Bello is a member of the APC he should not use this Holy month of Ramadan to project negative outlook about the present administration because Oyo state residents are witnessing relative peace and dividends of democracy.
