OYACA Takes Anti-Corruption Awareness Programme To Oyo Senior Civil Servants
The Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (OYACA) has charged top civil servants in Oyo State to report major infractions to civil service ethics and ensure the enforcement of the ethical standards to nip corruption in the bud in the State’s workforce.
The message was delivered on Monday at Ibadan by the agency’s Chairman, Honorable Justice Eni Esan (rtd), at a sensitization and advocacy programme, organized by OYACA for senior civil servants in the State to expose them to the consequences and ways of preventing corruption.
In her words, Esan charged the top officials to take up the responsibility of fighting corruption in the State more than ever before by taking up the roles of internal monitors to prevent graft.
The sensitization programme had in attendance, the Oyo State’s Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni mni, Permanent Secretaries, Inspectors–General of Education, Tutors–General of Education, the Accountant–General and the State’s Auditor–General.
Others are the State
Auditor–General, Local Government Executive Secretaries, General Managers, Coordinating Directors and other
Heads of Ministries, Directorates and Agencies and Parastatals.
“We decided to extend our enlightment campaigns to you because of the key roles you are playing in the fight against corruption in your different Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Government.
“We urge you to carry out continuous in-house sensitization and awareness programmes on ill-effects of corruption to the nation and its consequences. This is capable of changing the mindset and psyche of those engaged in the act. It also ensures that the greenhorns are not influenced and coerced to join in the nefarious act.
“Please institute sound control measures to prevent corruption in line with modern trend. Introduce control books where necessary and monitor enforcement.
“Carry out regular review of the control measures to ensure it addresses current developments, ensure swapping of responsibilities as law permits, monitor performance of duties to guarantee efficiency and effectiveness,” she added.
The OYACA Chairman was accompanied to the event by Prince (Dr) Oyebade Oyedepo, a member of OYACA board, CSP Lawrence Eyindero, another board member, Mr. Ibrahim Tijani, the Executive Secretary of OYACA, Mrs Folasade Ajibade, the Director of I.C.T and Mr. Lere Omotoso, Director Administration and Supply.
The Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni mni, in her response, appreciated the anti-corruption agency for taking up the responsibility of exposing the ills of corruption in the State.
She also called on the senior civil servants at the event to take the gospel of anti-corruption to their various workplace and make sure that no form of corruptive action is allowed to manifest.
