OYLGSPB Boss, Akeem Ige Reiterates Govt’s Commitment to Workers, Pensioners’ Welfare
The newly appointed Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board Hon Akeem Ademola Ige has reiterated the state government’s commitment to workers and pensioners’ welfare.
Hon Ige stated this in his address during the courtesy visit by the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees ( NULGE) Oyo State Chapter led by Comrade Ayobami Adeogun at the state secretariat, Ibadan.
The chairman assured NULGE Executives of His Excellency , Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde ‘s government ‘s commitment to ensure that workers and pensioners issues are treated with utmost importance and urgency.
In his words” since May 2019, Governor Seyi Makinde gives priority to staff and pensioners and that is why they are promoting this administration which culminates into His Excellency receiving awards both locally and internationally.
In his speech, the state NULGE president, Com Ayobami Adeogun expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Governor for appointing Hon Akeem Ademola Ige as Chairman describing him as a round peg in a round hole. He then prayed that God will give the chairman grace to succeed in office.
Comrade Ayobami Adeogun then used the occasion to appeal to the state government to grant approval for the recruitment of staff to all the thirty three Local Governments in Oyo State.
Similarly , the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo State Council led by the state Chairman Comrade Isiaka Abolade also paid a courtesy visit to Hon Akeem Ademola Ige.
In their separate remarks, the state Chairman and state secretary Comrade Isiaka Abolade and Comrade Segun Abatan respectively expressed their gratitude to the present government under the leadership of Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde religiously paying gratuity every quarter since he assumed office in May 2019 and he has never failed.
Also speaking at the event, the state NUP Chairmen Primary School Teachers Wing, and Local Government Staff Wing, ,Comrade Dosu Akinpelu and Dr Taiwo Ayanlowo prayed that Almighty God will grant the chairman the wherewithal to succeed in office.
All the NUP Executives who spoke at the courtesy visit highlighted some of the welfare packages being enjoyed by the pensioners and they also presented some challenges which need the attention of the Governor to the Board Chairman.
In his opening remarks during the two groups Permanent Secretary, Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board Alhaji Lukman Akinola Muraina appreciated State NULGE and NUP Executives for their support and cooperation to the management of the Board.
In another development, handing over note and between the Permanent Secretary and Chairman took place during the general meeting held with the entire members of staff of Board.
The chairman in his address, warned the staff against involving in sharp practices that could tarnish the image of the Board and therefore enjoined them to be more dedicated to their duties and continue to be loyal to the present government . He then charged them to strive and receive merit award as the Best Board of the year..
Among dignitaries that graced the occasions were Special Assistant to the Governor on Culture and Tourism, Hon Adebayo Omolara, Directors of the Board, Hon Sunday Babatunde, Secretary Ibadan South East Local Government, Legislative Council members of Ibadan South East Local Government, retired Heads of Local Government Administration and a host of others.
