Oyo East LG Exonerates Council Boss from Alleged Secretariat Renovation Allegations

The Oyo East Local Government has exonerated the council boss, Hon. Sola Oluokun, from alleged involvement in the Secretariat Renovation Project, which stemmed from a misleading publication that the local government described as malicious and unfounded.
In a statement issued from the Public Relations Unit of the local government, it was stated that, “Hon. Sola Oluokun had no knowledge, no involvement, and no connection whatsoever with the said Secretariat Renovation Project.”

The statement emphasised the need for clarity on the matter, stating, “At no time did Hon. Sola Oluokun participate in, authorise, endorse, or approve any letter of financial request, political negotiation, or correspondence relating to the Secretariat Renovation Project. He was completely unaware of the process.”
The statement also highlighted that “the said project was a well-intentioned, self-help effort initiated by some concerned staff members of Oyo East Local Government and certain well-meaning indigenes of Oyo who believed in supporting local development.”
It further clarified that the chairman was “never consulted, never briefed, and never informed about the fundraising process or its execution.”
Addressing the allegations of political collusion, the PR unit observed that, “We categorically debunk the false narrative that there was any secret political collusion between the Chairman and any opposition figure or party, including Hon. Akimu Adeyemi or the APC.”
The statement reaffirmed that, “the Chairman was completely in the dark about any fundraising letters or engagement with political stakeholders outside the PDP.”
Reinforcing Hon. Oluokun’s integrity, the statement said, “Hon. Sola Oluokun remains a man of impeccable character, transparency, and loyalty to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). His record of service speaks for itself, and he cannot and will not be associated with any underhanded dealings or political conspiracy.”
The statement reiterated the chairman’s complete lack of involvement, noting, “We cannot overemphasise it: Hon. Sola Oluokun did not know, was not involved, and did not participate in any manner, whether directly or indirectly, in the Secretariat Renovation fundraising, its execution, or any related political interaction.”
The statement urged the public to disregard the misleading publication, saying, “We urge the general public, PDP members at all levels, and all lovers of truth to disregard the baseless publication. It is a desperate act by disgruntled elements who are uncomfortable with the Chairman’s focused and people-oriented leadership.”
The local government affirmed, “Hon. Sola Oluokun stands tall, innocent, and completely exonerated. He remains focused on delivering on his mandate and will not be distracted by agents of division and falsehood.”
