Oyo Govt Aligning With SDGs Global Goal 7 – Oyo SDGs Boss, Yusuff
The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Hon. Kunle Yusuff MON, has stated that the state government is strongly aligning with the Global Goal 7 of SDGs in the state.
Yusuff made this known on Thursday while speaking with journalists in Ibadan shortly after the commissioning of the 663.6 kilowatts peak solar power plant by Governor Seyi Makinde at the premises of the Nigerian Breweries, Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
According to Yusuff, UN- SDGs projected that by year 2030, developing nations could have gotten access to clean energy search and technology, including Global renewable energy, energy efficiency and cleaner fossil-fuel technology, and promote investment on energy infrastructure.
In His words: “Global Goals 7 of SDGs is extremely important because Goals 7 is interwoven to other 16 remaining Goals, most especially 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8 9, 11, 13 and 17 because energy matters to Global Agenda 2030. Investments in solar, wind and improving Energy Productivity and ensuring Energy for all is vital if we are to achieve SDGs Goal 7.”
Yusuff added further that Goal 7 aims at correcting enormous imbalance by ensuring everyone has access to affordable, reliable and modern energy services by the year 2030.
He said: “Global Goals 7 of SDGs is extremely important because it is interwovenly related to other 16 remaining Goals because Energy matters to Global Agenda 2030. It is through the enabling environment and good governance that Nigeria Brewery commissioned 663.6kWp solar power plant in Ibadan.”
While concluding, the Governor’s aide noted that the plant will supply approximately 800MWh of solar electricity to Brewery annually, adding that it will also reduce the sites CO2 emissions over 10, 000 tonnes over the Lifespan of the Plant and finally appreciated Governor Seyi Makinde for providing an enabling and conducive environment for private sector partnerships.
