Oyo PDP Congresses: Imposition Will Scuttle Party’s Chances in 2027 – Party Stalwart Warns
… Reaffirms Loyalty to Makinde

Ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party’s congress in Oyo State, a stalwart of the party, Oloye Najimdeen Abiola has warned the leadership of the party in the state against imposition of candidates for various party offices.

The party stalwart noted that any form of imposition of candidates to various party offices would further polarise the party and might scuttle its chances in the coming general elections.

Alhaji Abiola gave the warning on Wednesday in Iseyin during a caucus meeting with the party leadership, members and supporters.

He said the only way the PDP could retain the state in 2027 is for the leadership and party members to redouble their efforts to ensure that Ganduje’s threat of reclaiming Oyo does not come to reality.
“According to information at hand, some party chieftains who are close to our performing Governor and leader, Seyi Makinde, have clandestinely started using the Governor’s name to adopt individuals for various party offices.

“Our Governor is guided by logic, science and data, Excellency can never be a party to undemocratic tendencies.
“We should remember that SDP will become a force before the end of 2025, it wouldn’t do us any good to loose our loyal and dedicated members to opposition party now that the ruling APC at the national level is hellbent in forcefully taking over Oyo State in 2027.
“We are dealing with an incumbent President that is losing legitimacy every day, therefore, we need to put our house in order.
“No section or group should be left out in the choice of those who will manage the party affairs from ward, local government and State.
“Please don’t let us be complacent. I beg you in the name of Allah, let us do inclusion by whatever means we should achieve it.
“No party chieftain should influence anybody’s selection for any office. Such undemocratic tendency will further polarize our party.
“All our elected officials (National Assembly members, State Assembly members) must be given equal rights to decide those who will run the affairs of the party in their various local governments and by extension, Federal Constituency.
“The failure of Oyo APC started from their congresses in 2018 and 2022, have they recovered?
