Oyo PMS Launches Initiative for Okada Riders Registration

The Oyo Park Management System (PMS) has convened a meeting with the Oyo State Revenue and the Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) to discuss a collaborative initiative aimed at the proper registration of Okada riders across the state.
The initiative is designed to enhance the identification and verification process of riders, ensuring a safer and more organised transportation system in the state.

Under this new initiative, each registered Okada rider will receive a jacket equipped with a unique QR code as this feature will allow for easy scanning and verification, promoting accountability and reducing the chances of fraudulent operations.
In his remark, PMS Chairman in the State, Alhaji Wasiu Tomiwa Omolewa fondly known as Tommy, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “This collaboration with Oyo State Revenue and OYRTMA is a significant step towards improving the safety and reliability of our transportation system.”
“By providing Okada riders with identifiable jackets, we are not only enhancing their credibility but also prioritizing the safety of our citizens.”
He further elaborated on the initiative’s impact, adding, “The unique QR codes will serve as a tool for both riders and passengers, facilitating a seamless means of verification.”
“We believe that this will encourage responsible riding and ensure that only registered and trained riders operate within our state.”
According to him, the initiative is expected to roll out in the coming months, with the PMS working closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure a smooth implementation process.
“We are committed to making Oyo State a model for transport management in Nigeria, and this initiative is just the beginning of many more improvements to come.”
“This proactive approach aims to strengthen the regulatory framework surrounding Okada operations, ultimately benefiting both riders and passengers in Oyo State,” he concluded.
