PDP, APC Camps Upbeat as Appeal Court Delivers Judgment On LG Dissolution Tomorrow
Supporters of the Peoples Democratic and the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State said they were upbeat with the news that the court of Appeal would deliver its judgment in the petition filed by the sacked ALGON to challenge the decision of Governor Seyi Makinde to sack the elected chairmen hours after his inauguration as the executive governor of the state through his Chief of Staff, Bisi ILaka.
The ruling PDP and the caretaker chairmen’s camp expressed optimism that the judgment of the Appeal Court would favour them.
A top aide of Governor Makinde who spoke with GOALPOACHER NEWS said, “my brother, God is on our side, the sacked chairmen have gone forever, I don’t want to preempt the court of law, but I can tell you that the former ALGON chairmen have been begging the state government for negotiations which we are not willing to consider.”
The source argues, “if the judgement goes the other way, the supreme court is another window of opportunity for us.”
“Remember the Oyo State House of Assembly had already indicted the sacked chairmen, so we have plan A to Z for them.”
However, the APC was more restrained in its expectations, saying tomorrow’s judgment would decide the fate of the petitioner and the appellants.
One of the sacked chairmen who resides in Ibadan said, “the PDP are lawless, they don’t have regards for the constitution, we were duly elected by the good people of Oyo State, the judgement will be in our favour, nothing to be worried about.”
“We are coming back to complete our term.”
