PDP Crisis: Damagum Runs to Bauchi After Suspension, Meets Gov Bala

The Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum Chairman, Bala Mohammed, has assured that the party will come out of its internal crisis strong.

Mohammed, who is also the Bauchi State governor, gave the assurance while receiving the embattled Acting PDP National Chairman, Umar Damagum, alongside Northeast PDP Chairmen at Bauchi Government House on Friday.

He admitted that the PDP has a lot of problems, but as the leader of the party’s governors forum, he remained committed to working alongside his colleagues (the governors) to resolve it.

He said, “This is why I always said we may have problems, we may have political hiccups, but certainly, we have a way of coming back.

“The coming of the ambassador comes on a day we have a lot of problems at the party. The most important thing in today’s outing is that the northeast is one. We are together and we are unified.”

Mohammed promised Damagum to consult his governor colleagues regarding the next line of action regarding the party’s crisis.

Earlier speaking, Damagum explained that his visit was to discuss issues of the PDP.

He said “You can see the chairmen of the northeast PDP with me. They come here also to support me to reiterate their commitment that the northeast, where they come from is one, and also they believe in the leadership of the governor’s forum chairman.

“Today we came for a friendly visit to discuss many things.”

Damagum equally warned Nigerians against voting for incompetent leaders in the 2027 general election.

He lamented that many Nigerians are suffering due to the policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Damagum said, “There is a need for Nigerians to prioritize credibility when choosing leaders; those who collected spaghetti and wrappers to bring in the present government are feeling it more than anybody else.”

Damagum’s visit to Bauchi came amidst reports of his suspension by a faction of the PDP’s National Working Committee, alongside National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, for alleged disloyalty.
