PHOTOS: Oyo Speaker, Ogundoyin, Ogedengbe, Agba Egbe, Laud Makinde’s SA on Students’ Affairs For Renovating AFAS Secretariat at UI
The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Adebo Ogundoyin, and the Executive Assistant on Administration and General Services, Reverend Idowu Ogedengbe on Thursday poured encomiums on the Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Students’ Affairs, Victor Olojede on the feat recorded by renovating the secretariat which belongs to the Association of Faculty of Arts (AFAS), University of Ibadan.
Ogundoyin, who commissioned the newly renovated and remodelled edifice while speaking noted that he’s happy with what Victor has been doing by bridging the gap between His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde and the Students’ community in Oyo State. His words:
“I am happy to be here today and most especially proud of what Victor Olojede is doing.
” My advice to you students is that some things you do today will determine your tomorrow. So, whatever thing you do as of today will determine your future. So, be deliberate and conscious about anything you do. “I want to encourage others to do more to enhance students development in he state. ” Honestly, I am being challenged personally and I use this medium to call on my Honorable Colleagues at State House of Assembly and elected chairmen and councilors at the grassroots to prioritize students welfare in their own little ways.”
In his remarks, Reverend Idowu Ogedengbe commended Olojede for the accomplishment. He says,
“It gladdens my heart to see what is happening today, in contribution towards education in this faculty, a donation by Victor Olojede. The truth is not about the duration but donations. I am so impressed that a young man like Victor could take it upon himself. I encourage everyone to take a cue from this. Let’s all contribute our quota to the development of education in this institution and the state at large.”
While speaking with journalists, the Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Students Affairs, Victor Olojede noted that he decided to embark on the project to honour Governor Seyi Makinde for his giant strides in the development of students in Oyo State.
However, he said decided to give back to the institution of learning (University of Ibadan) that made him what he is today. His words: “This was done to appreciate the good works of Governor Seyi Makinde and to encourage others to do more for the students.”
The highpoint of event the was the announcement of the sum of N500,000 tagged “Seyi Makinde Award” for best graduating students to a period of five years. The best student will get N100,000 annually.
The event had in attendance the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Agba Egbe, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on SDGs, Hon Kunle Yusuff MON, Professor Oyewo (Head of Department, Communication and Language Arts) who represented the Dean of Faculty of Arts among others.
