The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Seun Olufade, has commissioned a motorized borehole at the University College Hospital (UCH) Residential Area, beside Mercy Guest House, bringing relief to the community battling water scarcity.

Hon. Olufade, who recently got married, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Aramide Olufade, alongside top political figures, including the ALGON Chairman in Oyo State and Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Sikiru Sanda, Deputy Chief of staff to Governor Seyi Makinde, Hon. Folajimi oyekunle DON, Hon. Olufunke Comforter, the member representing Ibadan North Constituency 1 in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebowale Falana, Chairman of theOyo State Youth Development Agency, Hon. Michael Ogunsina, the Oyo State PDP Youth Leader and Acting Publicity Secretary, and Hamdy Mustapha, the Chief of Staff of Ibadan North Local Government.

The delegation was warmly received by the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of UCH, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, who expressed gratitude for the impactful project.

The borehole project was facilitated by Comrade Ibekwe Simeon, the UCH Branch Chairman and Assistant Zonal Coordinator (Southwest) of the Tertiary Health Institutions National Consultative Forum.

In his address, Comrade Ibekwe Simeon commended Hon. Olufade for fulfilling his promise, narrating how multiple efforts to secure a borehole through other influential individuals in Oyo State had yielded no results.

“When I approached the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North, he assured me he would make this happen—and today, he has delivered.

This is why he is called ‘Mr. Talk and Do,’ following in the footsteps of the indefatigable Governor Seyi Makinde,” Comrade Ibekwe Simeon said.

He further revealed that the borehole had already been in use by residents even before the official commissioning, underlining its urgent necessity.

Comrade Simeon also seized the moment to request Hon. Olufade’s intervention in facilitating access to the 11kVA power plant in Ibadan for UCH.

In his remarks, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo thanked Hon. Olufade for addressing one of UCH’s two critical challenges—water and electricity.

He acknowledged that while UCH is a federal institution, contributions from local government authorities like Olufade’s are vital for sustainable development.

“What makes this intervention even more commendable is that the Chairman did not just provide a borehole—he also donated a generating set to ensure uninterrupted water supply,” the CMD stated.

He urged other public officeholders to emulate Olufade’s commitment to community development.

Also speaking at the event, the ALGON Chairman and Egbeda Local Government Chairman, Hon. Sikiru Sanda, lauded Hon. Olufade for prioritizing service delivery even when he should be on his honeymoon.

“Hon. Olufade’s commitment to his people is remarkable. Instead of taking time off after his wedding, he is here delivering life-changing projects. This is true leadership,” Hon. Sanda said.

He further emphasized the importance of maintenance culture, urging UCH residents to safeguard the borehole for long-term use.

Hon. Sanda officially commissioned the borehole on behalf of hon. Oluwaseun Olufade and handed over the generating set to the community, marking a new chapter in UCH’s access to potable water.

In recognition of his innovative approach to local governance, the Tertiary Health Institutions National Consultative Forum (Southwest Zone) presented Hon. Olufade with an Innovative Project Award.

The award was jointly received by the Chairman and his wife, Mrs. Aramide Olufade, amid applause from attendees.

    The event had in attendance:
    – Hon. Sikiru Sanda, ALGON Chairman and Egbeda LG Executive Chairman
    – Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DON), Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Makinde
    – Hon. Olufunke Comforter, Oyo Assembly Member (Ibadan North Constituency 1)
