SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST MEMBER CONDEMNS POLICE HARASSMENT OF CONFERENCE OFFICERS

An Elder of the Seventh day Adventist Church in Oyo Conference, Elder Kayode Bamiduro has condemned in strongest terms, the recent arrest of Oyo Conference Officers of the church by men of the Nigeria Police which was allegedly perpetrated by one Leke Owolabi from SDA Church, Maryland Lagos.

“The arrest and detention of the officers could best be described as illogical, provocative and highly embarrassing to all members of the Conference who hold those arrested on trump up charges in very high esteem”.

Elder Bamiduro made this known on Friday in Ibadan shortly after the arrest of two members of the Conference officers.

According to him, apart from the fact that Leke Owolabi has no locus standi to arrest anybody because the entire Conference in Oyo and other fields under it has passed a vote of no confidence on him, therefore Oyo Conference is no longer under his jurisdiction, adding that this situation is known to both the Division and General Conferences of the Seventh day Adventist Church.

He expressed surprise that someone who is under EFCC investigation for various alleged misappropriation could still have the liver to accuse another person of misappropriation. “I am surprised moreso for his flagrant disregard to the recent letter from our revered General Conference President, Pastor Ted Wilson’s advise to him (Leke Owolabi) which pleaded for peace and understanding on both sides.

Bamiduro said with the recent development, Leke Owolabi has confirmed the rumours going round that he intends to make himself life President of Seventh day Adventist Church in Nigeria. He assured that this evil declaration by him will never see the light of the day.

While calling on the Inspector General of Police to step into the matter and confirm the authenticity of his claims, he charged Elders of the Church in Nigeria such as Pastor Johnson Adeniji, Pastor Adebisi Ola, Professor Kayode Makinde ,Pastor Onaolapo Ajibade and Dr. Deji Adeleke to call Leke Owolabi to order and stop his plans to split Seventh day Adventist Church in Nigeria with a view to start Church business.

He concluded that if they and others failed to end this urgly episode by Leke Owolabi they should be prepared to give reasons to God whenever they answer the final call, adding that Owolabi’s love for money and material gains instead of preaching the three angels message will never escape God’s scrutiny in due season.

Leke owolabi should leave Oyo conference alone God owns the church not him he has been alleged in so many ways those 2 officers he arrested are just leading a congregation so the congregations should be arrested not only the 2 officers.
