Abdul Ganiyu Abdul Lateef

I am GSM Adherent. Seyi Makinde is not just my leader, he represents my political ideology and governance philosophy.

In 2017, I observed GSM from a distance. At the time, I held reservations. I felt he was too calm, too gentle, and perhaps not firm enough to manage a complex state like Oyo.

However, in 2018, I had the privilege of meeting Chief Bisi Ilaka, a respected leader I had previously worked with on two occasions. He strongly encouraged us to support GSM, describing him as the leader and Governor we should align with. I was candid about my doubts. He listened, smiled, and assured me:
“Meet him first. Don’t make a decision yet, just listen.”

Two weeks later, I met Seyi Makinde.

That meeting was transformative.

He addressed my concerns even before I voiced them. He demonstrated a rare ability to listen, to understand, and to connect. I left that meeting convinced, convinced not by promises, but by substance, clarity, and vision.
When we asked the inevitable political question,“What is in it for us?” his response was simple and profound: he could not promise appointments or personal benefits, but he assured us we would never regret choosing to work with him.
Till today, I have never woken up to regret that decision.
From 2018 to this moment, I have remained unwavering in my commitment. His approach to governance and politics aligns completely with my personal philosophy p be eople-centered leadership, integrity, and purposeful service.
I therefore reaffirm, without hesitation: I am GSM Adherent in both politics and governance.
Like many others, I have aspirations. I desire to serve, to represent the good people of Oyo State, to contribute meaningfully, and to be part of the ongoing transformation. I hope, one day, to be on the ballot, to be on the billboard, and to sit at the decision-making table.
But leadership also requires discipline, patience, and understanding of timing.
Not all of us will serve in the same capacity. Not all of us will hold office at the same time. Not all of us will be in the chamber, on the billboard, or in the State Executive Council. There is a time and season for everything.
Whether that time is now, 2027, or beyond, I submit to the will of God and the direction of Seyi Makinde.
What is constant, however, is my readiness.
If called upon, I will serve at any level, in any capacity whether at the state level or in Abuja, whether in an executive role or as an adviser or consultant. Wherever I am needed, I will be available.
For me, loyalty is not conditional.
Every true adherent of Seyi Makinde is my ally. Every candidate he supports is my candidate. Every individual he trusts to sustain continuity and deepen development in Oyo State has my full backing.
The coming weeks will be decisive. Political dynamics will shift. Difficult decisions will be made. Some aspirations will be realized; others will be deferred. There will be moments of joy and moments of disappointment.
But beyond personal interests, one principle remains paramount:
The work of Seyi Makinde must continue.
His success is not only about his tenure, but about who succeeds him and who supports that successor. I am fully aligned with the vision of continuity OMITUNTUN 3.0 and with whatever direction he chooses, including the platform on which that vision will be advanced.
My allegiance is clear, unwavering, and unconditional.
I am GSM Adherent.
Seyi Makinde is my leader and my political compass.
