Your Evil Thought Against my Government Has Failed– Makinde Tells Critics
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has fired at his critics saying all their evil thoughts against his government has failed to manifest as his administration clocks a year in days.
Makinde who described the opposition as ‘naysayers’ recounted that their negative expectation was that the people would begin to stone him after merely six months in office as a result of lack of focus.
He however said, the reason such a prediction would not come to pass is because of his administration’s judicious use of scarce resources in the state.
The governor spoke on Wednesday during the formal inauguration of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) 72 Squadron, Ago Are, Atisbo local government area of the state.
The event which saw the governor donating six vehicles among other is part of events lined up to commemorate the one year anniversary of the Makinde led PDP-government in the state.
Other projects also commissioned on Wednesday in line with the four focal point of the administration include, commissioning of a model school, Anwar ul Islam Basic School, Ipapo, Itesiwaju local government, distribution of cassava cuttings and other seedlings to farmers in Iseyin and the symbolic handover of the Asphalt and Quarry plant in Ijaiye.
The events were attended by top government functionaries, traditional rulers, community leaders among other relevant stakeholders.
Speaking at the security event, the governor assured that security just like other areas of focus of his administration, adding that he would do anything within his power to ensure that the people go about their activities in a safe and secured environment.
The event was attend by the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu who was represented by the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in charge of Operations, Abdulmajid Ali, AIG Zone XI Bashir Makama, state commissioner of Police Shina Olukolu among others.
Makinde said “I appreciate the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the approval which ensued that all the beaurecreatic bottleneck are limited.
“This administration commitment on security is very high and we will not relent. We will do everything in our power to ensure our people go about their activities in a safe and secure environment.
“I commend the officers for complying with the State Covid-19 Task Force requirement that isolation policy was complied with on arrival in the state from Lagos.
“We have committed resources into the security of the state and we will do more. We have brought six Hilux van to kickstart operations and we will bring more. We will also provide some motorcycles to enhance your operations.
“We charge you to be efficient in the discharge of your duties as we are getting positive report of your integration into the society.
“When we came, naysayers said that within six months, the people will be stoning us but it is now almost a year and that hasn’t happened.
“It is because we have decided to manage the resources of the state efficiency and it has provided the needed tonic for me and my colleagues to move on.”
While speaking at the school commissioning, Governor Makinde noted that the ravaging pandemic will not discourage the government from making the best of education available to the children in the state.
He said, “We will continue to make you happy so that the headache of the opposing can increase”, adding that his commitment to the development of education in the state has started with the continuous upward review of the budgetary allocation to education.
Addressing the farmers in Iseyin, Makinde said the presentation of the seedlings, chemicals among other food palliatives was in fulfilment of his promise to support the farmers, adding that he would soon open another 6,000 hectares of land for cultivation in Ilero area on the state.
In Akinyele Local Government Area, Seyi Makinde made a symbolic handing over of Pacesetter Quarry and Asphalt Plant at Ijaye,along Iseyin road. You recall the plant became moribund owing to it neglect by previous administrations.
“I am pleased to symbolically handover the Pacesetter Quarry and Asphalt Plant, Ijaiye to a private company, Carboncor Road Technology Ltd as concessionaires in a public-private partnership arrangement with the Oyo State Government.”
“This previously moribund quarry and asphalt plant which we visited on July 3, 2019, will now generate funds for the government and the concessionaire, create jobs for our people and also, produce the asphalt we need for road projects in the state.”
