The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate in Oluyole local government in the forthcoming April Council poll, Akeem Olatunji has called for rededication towards the development of grassroots.

Olatunji made the call in his new year message as contained in a statement on January 1, 2024 which was made available to journalists in Ibadan.

Olatunji, who felicitates residents of Oluyole local government over their successful cross over into the new year equally called on the people to celebrate in moderation and shun all forms of activities that may truncate the relative peace and tranquility being enjoyed in the council area.

While also felicitating the people of Oyo state over the peaceful cross over, Olatunji commended Governor Seyi Makinde for setting the pace for a new dawn in Oyo state in terms of adequate security, public peace and deliberate empowerment of security agencies to be better equipped to protect residents’ lives and properties.

The former Publicity Secretary of PDP in Oyo state equally thanked members of his local government particularly, the PDP family, for their support and cooperation which he said has formed the core of his courage and strength in going about his duties as the party’s standard bearer in the coming Council Poll.

While acknowledging the impact of the current economic situation on personal and household finances which he noted has stretched many to the limit, the COREN certified engineer commended the dexterity and courage of his people in Oluyole to continue to keep faith with his candidature in their deeds and words.

In his words: “I want to specially thank all my people in Oluyole local government for your unalloyed support and cooperation which have formed the basis of my courage and strength in discharging my duties as your chairmanship candidate under the PDP.

“I salute our collective resolve to continue to work together in peace and harmony despite the harsh economic realities, which has no doubt stretched us to our limits.

“As we begin a new journey of another 12 month, be assured of my dedication and commitment towards your well-being and most essentially, grassroots development in terms of physical infrastructure and human capacity building.

” As you’re all aware that ours in Oluyole by God’s grace when elected, is to fully align our local government with the vision of the engineer of the modern Oyo state by way of domesticating Governor Makinde’s Sustainable Development Agenda under Omituntun 2.0.

“I say this repeatedly with emphasis because at this current time, no local government deserves to deny itself the opportunity of being part of this great vision that will ultimately birth policy cohesion at both state and local government levels.

” As we celebrate the new year in fanfare, I must reaffirm that I count on your usual support and cooperation as we gradually move closer to the 2024 local government election slated for April and together, we can take our Oluyole to a greater height.”
