2027: Abass Oloko Distances Self From Makinde, APM Endorsement

A prominent Mogaji in Ibadan, Abass Oloko, has distanced himself from a video circulating on social media in which some Mogajis and heads of family compounds were seen declaring their support for Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and the governorship ambition of Abimbola Adekanmbi ahead of the 2027 elections.
    ‎
‎Oloko, who reacted to the development, said he was not part of the gathering and did not endorse the political declaration reportedly made by those present at the event.
    ‎
‎The video, which has been circulating on social media, showed a group of Mogajis and family compound heads purportedly expressing their support for Makinde and Adekanmbi as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections gather momentum in the state.
    ‎
‎In his clarification, Oloko said, “I distance myself from the video circulating on social media where some Mogajis and family compound heads gathered and declared their endorsement of Seyi Makinde and Abimbola Adekanmbi.”
    ‎
‎He further stated, “I was not part of the gathering and should not be associated with the endorsement contained in the video.”
    ‎
‎Oloko added, “My position should not be interpreted as support for the declaration made by those who participated in the gathering.”
    ‎
‎The clarification effectively separates Oloko from the political position expressed in the video and indicates that the endorsement should not be regarded as representing his personal position.
    ‎
‎His reaction comes amid increasing political activities and realignments in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections, with various political actors, community stakeholders and interest groups beginning to indicate their preferred candidates.
    ‎
‎The development also highlights the growing attention being paid to the positions of Mogajis and family compound heads in Ibadan, particularly as political parties and aspirants intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections.
    ‎
‎As the 2027 political season gathers momentum, the clarification by Oloko adds another dimension to the ongoing political alignments in Ibadan and Oyo State, while further developments may determine whether other Mogajis associated with the gathering will publicly clarify their positions.
