2027: Adeleke backs Accord lawmaker candidates despite Tinubu re-election coalition

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has said his support for Accord candidates in the 2027 legislative elections remains unchanged despite forming a coalition with the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.

Adeleke said the coalition was strictly for Tinubu’s re-election in the January 2027 presidential election and would not extend to elections for the Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly.

The governor disclosed this in a post on his X account on Friday, following the inauguration of the Osun State Presidential Campaign Council for Tinubu’s re-election.

“My support for all Accord candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly remains unshaken,” he said.

Adeleke said the coalition comprising Accord, APC and PDP was united solely behind Tinubu’s second-term bid.

He added that the coalition was committed to delivering more than the 1.5 million votes previously promised for the President in Osun State.

“Our rainbow coalition of Accord, APC and PDP is united solely for President Tinubu’s re-election in the January 2027 presidential election. This partnership does not extend to the legislative elections,” he said.

On the lingering local government crisis in Osun State, Adeleke said negotiations were at an advanced stage, adding that he had received assurances from the Federal Government that there would be positive developments soon.

“On the Osun local government crisis, negotiations are at an advanced stage. I have received the assurance of the Federal Government, and there will be positive developments soon,” he said.

The governor urged political stakeholders to unite despite their differences, saying the country was at a critical moment that required cooperation.
“These are critical times that demand unity beyond political differences. From the pain of the past, we must unite for the prosperity of the future,” he added.
