A new chapter of political consolidation was opened in Akinyele Ward 8 as members and stakeholders of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) came together in a united gathering, signalling the end of parallel meetings and renewed determination to approach the 2027 general elections as one political family.

The meeting, which attracted a large turnout, provided a platform for reconciliation, unity and strategic mobilisation, with stakeholders stressing that the strength of the party in the ward must be built around collective purpose rather than individual interests.

The development comes barely weeks after other APM stakeholders in Ward 8 held strategic engagements aimed at strengthening unity ahead of 2027.

Speaking at the gathering, Hon. Funsho Kayode, Hon. Kazeem Kagara and Hon. Victor Olojede emphasised the political importance of unity, urging members to put every difference behind them and work seamlessly for the success of all APM candidates.

They called for a coordinated grassroots structure capable of delivering the party’s candidates across the ballot, from Engr. Seyi Makinde, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, Sen. Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, Engr. Toheeb Adegoke ADLAT, Hon. Olalere Solomon ERE, Hon. Abiola Olalekan Monsur, to Hon. Akinwole Akinleye.
In his address, the Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye, expressed delight at witnessing the stakeholders and members gather under one roof, describing the development as an encouraging sign for the party’s political organisation ahead of the elections. He urged Ward 8 members to sustain the spirit of unity and translate the reconciliation into coordinated grassroots mobilisation.
According to him, the task ahead requires members to work together, remain focused and ensure that the emerging united structure is sustained beyond the meeting. His call for unity also reflects the broader emphasis on cohesion that has featured in recent APM stakeholder engagements across Akinyele.
The political gathering also witnessed a major expansion of the APM family as Hon. Akinwole Akinleye received a massive number of decampees from the APC and Accord Party into the Allied Peoples Movement, further adding momentum to the party’s grassroots structure in Ward 8. Significantly, members of the Hausa community previously associated with Accord Party were also received into the APM.
Also present were the SSA to the Oyo State Governor on Students Affairs, Hon. Victor Olojede; Akinyele LG Secretary and Political Head of Akinyele East LCDA, Hon. Kazeem Kagara; Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Aderinwale Abideen Adeyemi; former Akinyele LG Vice Chairman, Hon. Funsho Kayode; and other party leaders and local executives.
Adding further colour to the gathering, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye, Engr. Toheeb Adegoke ADLAT and Hon. Olalere Solomon ERE extended cash support to the united Ward 8 APM family. With the former factional lines giving way to a single gathering, the message from Ward 8 was unmistakable: unity has become the political language, mobilisation is gathering momentum, and APM is positioning its grassroots structure for the 2027 contest.
