A governorship aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress, Bisi Ilaka, has broken his silence over the controversial conduct of the party’s governorship primaries in Oyo State, alleging widespread irregularities and manipulation of results.
In a strongly worded statement following the May 22, 2026 primary election, Ilaka claimed that authentic result sheets from several local governments were either withheld or replaced with what he described as “manufactured” figures aimed at perpetrating electoral fraud.
According to him, result sheets from only 20 out of the 33 local governments in the state were officially released to the party chairman-elect, Mr. Afees Adelowo.
“The party chairman elect distributed the result sheets to all the local governments in Oke Ogun, Ogbomoso, Oyo, and Ibarapa Central local government. The remaining result sheets were given to persons unknown,” Ilaka stated.
He further alleged that the disputed result sheets never reached several key local governments, especially in Ibadan and parts of Ibarapa zone.
“These result sheets never made it to all the local governments in Ibadan, Ibarapa East, and Ibarapa North. The results entered in the 13 sheets that were handed over to persons unknown are disputed because they never got to the local governments, where the authentic results were domiciled,” he said.
Ilaka maintained that party officials and local government executives in the affected areas were prepared to testify on the authenticity of the original results.
“In each of the local governments where the results are disputed, the party officers, agents, and local government chairman elect are ready to testify and produce the real results collated at ward and local government level,” he added.
Ilaka insisted that he won overwhelmingly in the local governments where authentic results were available, claiming victory in 28 out of 29 councils by a margin of about 14,000 votes.
“This travesty should not be allowed to stand. I won 28 out of the 29 local governments that the results are authentic by about 14,000 and the total number of registered members in the four local governments that we don’t have alternate results is not up to 4,000,” Ilaka declared.
He warned that the alleged irregularities could damage the party’s chances ahead of the governorship election, stressing the need for unity and credibility within the ADC.
“We have enough problems and we want to win an election,” he concluded.
