Former Local Government Chairmen who served during the administration of the late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State have declared their readiness to join the Jubril Dotun Sanusi (JDS) Movement and work for the success of all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.



The former council chairmen, represented by 14 of their members, made the declaration during a strategic meeting with the Okanlomo Oodua and Gbonka Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, where they commended his grassroots mobilisation efforts, philanthropic interventions and vision for the development of Oyo State.


The meeting provided an opportunity for the former council leaders to acknowledge what they described as Sanusi’s growing efforts to mobilise support ahead of the 2027 elections, particularly for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Sharafadeen Alli, as well as other APC candidates.




Speaking during the meeting, the former chairmen expressed confidence in the capacity of the JDS Movement to build a formidable grassroots political structure across Oyo State.


After extensive deliberations, the group unanimously declared its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, Senator Sharafadeen Alli and other APC candidates, describing their decision as a “come back home” to the political family.
The former council chairmen also praised Chief Sanusi’s interventions across communities, noting that his philanthropic initiatives and engagement with people at the grassroots have demonstrated a strong commitment to the development and wellbeing of Oyo State.
They said their decision was driven by the need to strengthen grassroots participation and contribute their experience, networks and political structures to the success of the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
Among the former Local Government Chairmen who participated in the meeting were Hon. Bolaji Abiodun and Hon. Oladejo Wahab (Ido Local Government), Hon. Oluyinka Akinbode (Ibadan North), Hon. Akande Kola (IBSE), Hon. Oladeji Abiodun (Lagelu), Hon. Okunlade Samuel (Oorelope), Hon. Taoheed Adeleke (IBSW), Hon. Olorode Samuel (Afijio), Hon. Adeniran Alarape (Kajola), Hon. Balogun Lord (Oorelope), Hon. Salami Ope (Akinyele), Hon. Oyetunde Ismail Akanni (Ona Ara), Hon. Folarin Rafiu Adekola (IBSW), and Hon. Opalaye Gbenga, among others.
The gathering further underscored the increasing political engagement around the JDS Movement as stakeholders continue to mobilise across the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former chairmen pledged to deploy their experience and grassroots networks towards building wider support for the APC and ensuring effective mobilisation across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State.
Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, while receiving the delegation, appreciated the former council chairmen for their confidence and commitment, stressing the importance of unity, grassroots development and collective efforts towards a prosperous Oyo State.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment to grassroots mobilisation and coordinated political engagement ahead of the 2027 elections.
