A political support group in Ona-Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State, Agbajowo Ona-Ara , has strongly condemned the recent protest staged against the Deputy Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Abiodun Mohammed Fadeyi, describing the demonstration as a sponsored attempt to discredit a loyal and performing lawmaker.

The group maintained that Hon. Fadeyi remained one of the most impactful representatives ever produced by Ona-Ara State Constituency, stressing that his achievements and unwavering loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde over the last seven years have continued to earn him widespread respect across the constituency and the state at large.

Speaking on behalf of the group in a statement, its coordinator, Femi Ademola, said the agitation being pushed by some protesters was unnecessary and politically motivated, insisting that Fadeyi has always aligned himself with the leadership and direction of Governor Makinde.

“Hon. Fadeyi is a disciplined and loyal party man who has never disobeyed Governor Seyi Makinde’s directive. Those trying to create tension in Ona-Ara should understand that his political decisions have always been guided by the leadership of the party and the Governor, who remains our overall leader,” the group stated.

The group explained that the Deputy Speaker had long nurtured the ambition to contest for the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency seat and had worked tirelessly towards it before the party leadership eventually made its decision.

According to the statement, Governor Makinde directed Fadeyi to return to the Oyo State House of Assembly, a directive the Deputy Speaker willingly accepted in the interest of party unity and stability.

“His ambition was never hidden. He worked vigorously for the federal constituency ticket, but when Governor Seyi Makinde made the final decision, Hon. Fadeyi obeyed without hesitation and returned to the State Assembly. That alone shows his loyalty, humility and commitment to the PDP,” the group added.

The supporters further described Fadeyi as a bridge-builder and a dependable ally of the Governor who has contributed immensely to the smooth relationship between the legislature and the executive in Oyo State.
They also hailed his performance as Deputy Speaker, insisting that he has surpassed many of his predecessors through effective representation, empowerment programmes and grassroots engagement across Ona-Ara constituency.
“Without mincing words, Hon. Fadeyi has performed beyond expectations. He has done more than many who occupied the office before him.“
“The people know his contributions and they appreciate his dedication to development and party progress,” the statement noted.
The group, however, urged those behind the protest to channel their energy into more productive engagements rather than attempting to create division within the PDP in Ona-Ara.
“The sponsors of the protest should think of something else to do. We are solidly behind Hon. Fadeyi because this is not about personal ambition; it is about respecting party leadership and sustaining the progress of Governor Makinde’s administration,” the group concluded.
