The Chairman, House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development in the Oyo State House of Assembly and PDP-APM Candidate for Ibadan North Constituency I ahead of the 2027 general election, Hon. Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide, JP, has hailed the declaration of Governor ‘Seyi Makinde to contest the 2027 Presidential Election, describing it as a bold and defining moment in Nigeria’s democratic journey.

In a statement made available to newsmen by her media team, Hon. Comforter gave the commendation during the PDP/APM Unity Mega Rally and Grand Alliance held at the historic Mapo Hall, Oja’ba, Ibadan, an event which officially signalled the launch of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State.

The lawmaker, who joined thousands of party faithful, progressive stakeholders and political leaders at the rally, said the declaration by Governor Makinde has further strengthened the confidence of Nigerians yearning for purposeful leadership and national transformation.

According to her, the emergence of the PDP-APM alliance represents a strategic political movement aimed at building a more inclusive, people-centred and progressive Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.

She noted that the massive turnout witnessed at the rally, particularly from supporters across Ibadan North Local Government Area and other parts of Oyo State, reflected the growing acceptance of the alliance and the increasing support for Governor Makinde’s leadership.

Hon. Comforter stated that the unity rally also demonstrated the readiness of the people to actively participate in shaping the political future of the country through collective commitment and democratic engagement.

She further described Governor Makinde as a visionary leader whose style of governance, developmental strides and political inclusiveness have continued to attract support from different groups and political stakeholders across the country.

The event was attended by several prominent political figures, including the National Chairman of the APM, Alhaji Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, and former Governor of Osun State and PDP leader, Chief Olagunsoye Oyinlola, alongside other party stalwarts and government officials.

Hon. Comforter called on party loyalists and supporters to remain united, steadfast and committed to the ideals of the alliance, stressing that the journey towards 2027 would require sacrifice, loyalty and collective determination.

She reaffirmed her commitment to supporting initiatives that would promote good governance, strengthen democratic values and improve the welfare of the people of Ibadan North, Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
