The aspiration of the National Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, Ambassador Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja to occupy Agodi government house in 2027 gained significant momentum on Thursday as leaders and stakeholders of the Party in Ibadan South East Local Government declared their “total support” for his aspiration.

The endorsement was formalized during a high-profile solidarity visit to Arapaja’s residence in Felele, Ibadan.

The delegation, comprised of influential party stalwarts, described the National Secretary of the PDP as the most qualified candidate to succeed Governor Seyi Makinde after his exit from government in 2027.

The leaders including Mogaji Abass Oloko, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige, Hon. Alawode Emmanuel Oluwole, Hon. Teslim Ogundeji
Hon. Yinka Omikunle
Hon. Modiu Opeyemi Akande and
Hon. Kunmi Adesina, Oluwole Olajide
emphasized that Ambassador Arapaja possesses an unmatched resume and the requisite political experience to ensure a PDP victory in 2027.

They noted that apart from the fact that he remains the strongest choice to defeat any opposition candidate, he is also well positioned to consolidate Governor Makinde’s “Omituntun” legacy in healthcare, infrastructure, education, agriculture, and welfare for workers and retirees among others.

The group appealed to Governor Makinde to reciprocate Arapaja’s longstanding loyalty and dedication to the party’s success.

To demonstrate their commitment, the leaders pledged to launch a massive publicity campaign, including the mounting of billboards across the state.

Other notable attendees included Hon. Taofeek Adesina Oladejo, Hon. Kamorudeen Fabunmi, Hon. Okiki Adebolu, Hon. Sulaiman Adesina, Hon. Kamorudeen (Surveyor General), Hon. Dauda Yusuf, and Hon. Popoola Remi.

The declaration marks a pivotal shift in the state’s political landscape as the PDP begins to align its internal structures ahead of the 2027 polls.
