Oyo PDP chieftain, Dare Adeleke, has declared that he and the entire Ibadan South-East leadership are firmly behind Governor Seyi Makinde as he begins his quest to become President of Nigeria in 2027.

In a statement issued in Ibadan on Thursday, Adeleke said:

“There has never been a more important time for Nigerians to be patriotic and rally behind a man of proven integrity – a leader who has courageously taken up the responsibility of rescuing Nigeria from the grip of destructive forces.

“The call for Governor Seyi Makinde to run for President did not begin today. Nigerians from all walks of life, both at home and abroad, have closely observed his transparent, accountable, and developmental style of governance in Oyo State. They have watched him fulfil virtually all his campaign promises within eight years, and many naturally called on him to offer himself for national service.

“We were therefore delighted and deeply encouraged when Governor Makinde accepted the clarion call of Nigerians.”

Adeleke said the governor remains the most suitable candidate to lead Nigeria at a time when the nation faces serious political, economic, and democratic challenges.

“We strongly believe that he is the right man for this critical moment in our history, especially at a time when leadership has failed many Nigerians and democracy itself is under pressure.”

He reaffirmed the loyalty and commitment of the Ibadan South-East leadership to Makinde’s presidential ambition.

“The Ibadan South-East leadership stands solidly with Governor Seyi Makinde, and we wholeheartedly pledge our loyalty and support as he embarks on this journey to the presidency.

“We will work tirelessly to ensure his victory, and we will not allow ourselves to be distracted in the process.”

Adeleke also expressed the support of the Ibadan South East, for the party’s governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi and other contestants across the state running under the banner of the Allied People’s Movement, APM.

“We also stand firmly behind our governorship candidate, Hon. Abimbola Adekanmbi, as well as all candidates of the APM.

“We equally support all our Senate, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly candidates across Oyo State.”

He specifically mentioned key candidates within the Ibadan South-East axis, including Senatorial candidate MHR Dhikrulahi Stanley Olajide, House of Representatives candidate MHR Abass Adigun Agboworin, Hon. Mojeed Oleyemi Alabamusar for Constituency I, and Hon. Yinka Omikunle for Constituency II.

“We pledge our allegiance to Engr. Seyi Makinde because we believe he possesses the Midas touch, the vision, and the leadership qualities required to pull Nigeria out of its current economic, developmental, and social difficulties.

“We are confident that Governor Makinde will replicate at the national level; the rapid development, economic vibrancy, prudent management, and accountable governance he has demonstrated in Oyo State, while also upholding the core principles of democracy.

“It is time to work”, he concluded.
