A prominent Ibadan chief, Mogaji Abass Oloko, has described the Okanlomo Oodua and Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, as a political Mecca in Oyo State, saying major political parties and governorship aspirants are now gravitating towards him ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Oloko said the growing influence of the renowned philanthropist and businessman has positioned him as one of the most sought-after political figures in the state, with politicians across party lines now eager to secure his backing.

According to him, “Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi has become a political Mecca of sorts in Oyo State. Virtually all political parties and governorship hopefuls are now seeking his support because they understand the enormous political value and goodwill he commands among the people.”

He added, “He is undoubtedly the new sheriff in town. At the moment, no one possesses the kind of political relevance, grassroots acceptance and influence that Sanusi enjoys across Oyo State.”

Oloko further declared that the wave of political consultations and strategic visits to Sanusi clearly showed that his support would be a deciding factor in determining who succeeds Governor Seyi Makinde in 2027.

“I can say it confidently that Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi will play a major role in deciding who becomes governor of Oyo State in 2027. The political landscape is already tilting in his direction,” he stated.

The Ibadan chief recalled that earlier this week, governorship and House of Representatives candidates of the Accord Party visited Sanusi to solicit his support, adding that the visit was closely followed by a delegation of women leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State.

He also hinted that loyalists of Governor Seyi Makinde’s preferred governorship candidate had reportedly opened consultations with the influential businessman and philanthropist as political realignments intensified ahead of the next election cycle.
Meanwhile, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi on Thursday hosted prominent women stakeholders of the APC in Oyo State at the prestigious Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, Ibadan.
The APC women stakeholders held extensive discussions with the respected traditional title holder on the future of the party, mobilisation efforts and strategies towards the 2027 elections.
Speaking during the meeting, Sanusi reaffirmed his commitment to the progress of the APC and pledged his support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“We must continue to support President Bola Tinubu and work collectively for the peace, stability and development of Nigeria.“
“I remain committed to the President’s re-election because continuity is important for sustainable growth and national progress,” Sanusi said.
He also urged women in the party to remain united and committed, describing them as vital stakeholders in political mobilisation and grassroots engagement.
Some of the APC women leaders at the meeting commended Sanusi for his contributions to humanitarian causes, youth empowerment and community development across Oyo State, describing him as a dependable and visionary leader.
