The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Iwajowa Local Government Area of Oyo State on Thursday reaffirmed its support for the party’s Oyo North Senatorial candidate for the 2027 general elections, Mrs. Hannah Ogunesan, during a well-attended stakeholders’ meeting held at Iwere-Ile.
The gathering brought together party leaders, stakeholders, ward executives and members from across the local government, who welcomed the former Oyo State Head of Service as part of her ongoing thank-you and consultation tour across the Oyo North Senatorial District.
Addressing the gathering, Ogunesan expressed appreciation to the party leaders and members for the confidence reposed in her and for their unwavering support. She assured them that if elected to represent Oyo North in the Senate, she would provide purposeful and effective representation that would directly benefit the people of the district.
She pledged to prioritise quality legislation capable of improving the welfare of the people while actively participating in relevant Senate committee assignments to attract meaningful development to the constituency. According to her, effective lawmaking, diligent oversight functions and the delivery of democratic dividends would remain the hallmark of her representation.
Ogunesan noted that her wealth of experience in public service has adequately prepared her for the legislative assignment, promising to justify the confidence of the APC and the electorate through dedication, accountability and commitment to the collective interests of Oyo North.
Speaking on behalf of the party leaders, the Overall Leader of APC in Iwajowa Local Government, Elder J. A. Adesokan, described Ogunesan as a competent administrator with an impressive record of public service. He said her experience, leadership qualities and understanding of governance make her a suitable candidate for the senatorial position.
Adesokan stated that the former Head of Service remains a square peg in a square hole, expressing confidence in her ability to deliver quality representation if elected. He also prayed for divine guidance and success for both the candidate and the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
The meeting also featured goodwill messages from party leaders and stakeholders, who pledged their continued support for the APC and its senatorial candidate.
Among those in attendance were Elder J. A. Adesokan, Dr. Layode, Alhaji Gani Ojapa, Alhaji Gani Alarape, Baba Bolaji Adewunmi, Hon. Samuel Egunjobi, APC Chairman in Iwajowa Local Government, Hon. Y. K. Agunbiade, Alhaji Ganiyat Alasomi, representing Senator Alleluyah, Hon. Tonny Ajekigbe of the NNPP, former APC Senatorial Chairman, Hon. Rasaq Arikewu, Hon. Ganni Selam, Hon. Salas Okunlola, as well as the party’s Secretary, Woman Leader and Youth Leader.
The visit formed part of Ogunesan’s ongoing engagement with APC stakeholders across Oyo North as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
