In a strategic move ahead of the 2027 general elections, Hon. (Dr.) Ezekiel Temitope Oladimeji, popularly known as OTOPE, on Saturday March 14, 2026 hosted leaders, stakeholders, and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Egbeda and Ona-Ara Local Government Areas at I.D.C school Hall, Gbagi, Ibadan in a significant consultative meeting where he formally declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency.

The well-attended gathering brought together key figures within the party structure, grassroots mobilisers, and community influencers who converged to deliberate on the political future of the constituency and reaffirm their commitment to strengthening the PDP ahead of the next electoral cycle.

In his goodwill message, the Egbeda PDP Chairman, Hon. Olawale Alaawe, commended Dr. Oladimeji for his unwavering dedication to humanitarian service and community development across the constituency. He described OTOPE as a committed party man whose interventions have positively impacted the lives of many residents over the years. The chairman began his remarks by rendering the popular OTOPE solidarity song, while offering prayers for the success of the aspiration.

Similarly, the PDP Chairman in Ona-Ara Local Government, Alfa (Hon.) Kehinde Adeyemo, alongside Pastor Olamoyekun, Hon. Yinka Bolarinwa, and Hon. Mosobalaje Bakare, expressed strong confidence in the aspiration of Dr. Oladimeji. They noted that his long-standing relationship with the people of both local governments has positioned him as a unifying figure within the constituency.

According to them, “OTOPE is a leader who belongs to both Egbeda and Ona-Ara. His contributions and accessibility to the grassroots have earned him the trust and admiration of the people.”

Representing the executive leadership of the local governments were Hon. Siyanbola Kabiru (KB), Chief of Staff to the Egbeda Local Government Chairman, and Hon. Arinola, Chief of Staff to the Ona-Ara Local Government Chairman, who both emphasised the importance of unity, discipline, and sustained grassroots mobilisation within the party.

Also speaking at the gathering, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde, Hon. Mufutau Ogunremi, applauded Dr. Oladimeji for what he described as nearly a decade of consistent humanitarian services, particularly in empowering residents and supporting community development initiatives across Egbeda and Ona-Ara Local Government Areas.

He noted that the philanthropic gestures of Dr. Oladimeji have contributed significantly to improving the welfare of many families within the constituency.

The importance of electoral participation was also highlighted during the meeting by Hon. Babatunde, Council Secretary of Ona-Ara Local Government, alongside Mrs. Nike Balogun and Mrs. Alice Adedokun from Egbeda Local Government, who encouraged party faithfuls to intensify efforts toward obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

They stressed that electoral victory in 2027 would largely depend on the readiness of party members and supporters to participate actively in the voting process.

“Without PVC, we cannot vote for OTOPE in 2027,” they emphasised, urging members to mobilise eligible voters across communities.

In his remarks, Alhaji Waheed Adurodekun commended Dr. Oladimeji’s humanitarian contributions and called for sustained love, unity, and loyalty to the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, while pledging his full support for the House of Representatives ambition.

At the peak of the event, Hon. (Dr.) Ezekiel Temitope Oladimeji (OTOPE) formally announced his decision to contest for the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.

Addressing the gathering, he expressed profound appreciation to party leaders, stakeholders, and members for their unwavering support and encouragement, noting that their presence and solidarity further strengthened his resolve to serve the people at a higher legislative capacity.

As part of his commitment to strengthening the party structure and supporting grassroots mobilisation, Dr. Oladimeji donated the sum of Three Million Naira (₦3,000,000) to support party activities across the two local governments.

He also urged members not to entertain fear or allow distractions capable of weakening the unity and strength of the party as preparations gradually begin toward the 2027 elections.

Reaffirming his loyalty to the leadership and developmental vision of Governor Seyi Makinde, OTOPE called on party faithfuls to remain focused, united, and committed to sustaining the progress recorded under the PDP administration in Oyo State.

The meeting concluded with renewed enthusiasm among party members, who pledged their continued support and mobilisation efforts toward strengthening the PDP and ensuring victory in the 2027 general elections.
