2027 Power Play: Makinde in Secret Talks with Two Ex-Governors as Oyo PDP Plots Possible 2027 Defection

As political manoeuvring ahead of the 2027 general elections gathered pace, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is currently in Northern Nigeria engaged in high-level meetings.

A well-placed source, who spoke to Goalpoachernews on condition of anonymity, disclosed that Makinde held two separate meetings with a former Northern governor said to command a substantial following in the North-West at the just concluded week.

The source further revealed that Governor Makinde arrived in Abuja earlier today (Sunday), where he briefly waited at the airport for the arrival of another former governor, now a serving senator from a South-South state, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to a newly formed party.

Goalpoachernews understands that Makinde and the former governor subsequently departed Abuja for Bauchi State in the North-East, before proceeding to the North-West to meet the influential former governor, who is also a former senator and minister.

There are growing indications that Governor Makinde may eventually appear on the ballot under the platform of the former governor’s party.

Additionally, candidates of the PDP in Oyo State are reportedly poised to defect to the same party in the coming days, should reconciliation efforts between the governor’s camp and the faction aligned with Wike fail to produce a positive outcome before the end of this week.
