7-Aside Football Competition: Ibarapakan Joins Football Lovers in Idere, Receives Decampees in Igangan

A member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, has joined football lovers at the final of the 7-Aside Football Competition, a football tournament put together for artisans in the Ibarapa Central Local Government Area of Oyo State by the CEO of Folawale Services Consult, Hon. Tokunbo Adewale Toriola.

The final of the second edition of the football competition was held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Oyo State School of Science playing ground in Idere.

In his remarks, Hon. Adepoju appreciated the organiser of the event, noting that sport is an exercise that he believes will improve the health of the people in the constituency and the much-needed unity we desire in Nigeria today.

Ibarapakan said the initiative is a well-thought-out programme, particularly its restriction to artisans in the local government area alone.

“It is a happy moment for me, and I want to seize this opportunity to thank the organiser of this football competition for artisans in our communities.

“Artisans, among others, are an integral part of our existence; worst of all, the majority of them are given no or little attention, and I believe initiatives like this will address that.

“As a government, we will continue to identify with individuals who are making efforts to promote our constituency through brilliant initiatives. We have also said that we are open to partnerships on the things that are capable of putting our region on the path of growth and development. The government will definitely do its part, but development is what we should all put our differences aside to achieve.

In recognition of his support for sports, the lawmaker was also given the honour to present the coveted cup as well as medals to the winner and the first runner-up of the football competition.

In another development, Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju has described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a party to beat.

He made this statement in Igangan on Friday, March 8, 2024, at the official flag-off ceremony of the campaign in the Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State ahead of the 2024 Oyo Local Government Election scheduled for April 27.

The lawmaker joined other party faithfuls in the constituency to show their support for Hon. Lateef Akorede, who is seeking a second term in office, and councilorship aspirants in 10 political wards in the local area.

Hon. Adepoju said His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has performed beyond expectations, reiterating that the April 27 local election would be a walkover victory for all the candidates of the PDP across the state.

The Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Federal Character, said Engr. Seyi Makinde’s growing popularity and clear intention of purpose, even in his second term in office, are a testament to his unexampled style of leadership, adding that the Oyo Governor has written his name in gold.

He also enjoined the candidates of the party to leave no stone unturned to advance the goals of Omituntun 2.0 if elected next month.

The lawmaker seized the moment to welcome a throng of decampees who joined the PDP in the constituency from the Accord party, Labour Party, NNPP and APC, mostly from Hon. Ajibola Muraina’s political camp.

At the official flag-off ceremony were Hon. Peter Ojedokun, member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon.
