Oyo State government has vowed to deal with anyone collecting mobile advert’s tax from motorists who is not an agent of the State’s Signage and Advertisement Agency (OYSAA), has it declared that local government authorities have stopped collecting the rate since the establishment of OYSAA.
The Director General of Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OYSAA) , Hon. Temilola Segun Adibi, said this at Ibadan on Thursday, harping on the need for commercial vehicle operators in the State and concerned people to remit their Mobile Advertisement Tax Into Agency’s Coffer in due course.
Adibi who disclosed this while speaking with Journalists said that the mobile Advert Tax collection has been withdrawn from Local Government Authority since the establishment of Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OYSAA)
“The authority to collect Mobile Advert Tax has long been withdrawn from the Local Government Authority since the establishment of Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OYSAA) and legal action will be taken against any Local Government Official or unauthorized individual who interrupt the activities of the Agency by mounting illegal tax collection point anywhere in the State.
“The established Law of the State Signage Agency (OYSAA) gave the agency the power to regulate, control and administer everything that has to do with Advertisement all over the State, so those parading themselves as agents of local government and collecting illegal monies should desist or face the wrath of the law,” he warned.
According to him, when an organization buys a mobile sticker in Oyo State for his or her vehicle, the vehicle is entitled to use the sticker across the country, which is why it is called a national programme.
He maintained that advertisement agencies all over the world were expected to pay fees for displaying their advertisement boards to the coffer of the State government, hence the is need for all the companies concerned to fulfil their obligations to the government.
He said all vehicles, whether cars, trucks, buses or pick-up vans that have any form of advertisement on them are to have the mobile stickers from accredited agent of the State Agency.
