Makinde Donates Fire Truck to FAAN, Reiterates Committment to Touch All Sectors of Oyo Economy
Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has reiterated the commitment of his administration to develop all sectors of the economy, saying the transport sector is key in his economic drive.
Makinde, who was represented by the state’s Commissioner for Public works, Infrastructure and Transport, Prof. Kehinde Sangodoyin, stated this on Monday while donating a fire truck to the Ibadan Airport of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) at the Government House, Ibadan, the state capital.
The governor also emphasized that the state government is determined to turn to make Ibadan Airport an international one in order to drive the economy.
He added that the donation is to enhance the operation efficiency of the airport.
Makinde said:“We are happy to donate this fire-truck simply because we want to drive our economy through transport and one of the modes of transportation is the air transport, and the wish of Engineer Seyi Makinde is to make Ibadan Airport an international airport.
“So, to do that, all the equipment that is necessary for the operations therein, we are happy to be partners in progress with the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria.
“This afternoon, Governor Makinde is donating a new fire-truck to Ibadan Airport for good and efficient service delivery.
“We also want to admonish them to have a culture of maintaining all the equipment because almost every quarter, there will be a check within the airport for the airlines to be able to cope with the services.
“I also want to state that they should not shy away from where they expect the Governor to assist them.”
In her remarks, the Ibadan Airport Manager, Tega Ayenuro who expressed appreciation to the state government for the donation.
Tega noted that the gesture was a boost to the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria. She added that the fire truck will enhance the operation of the airport.
