COVID-19: Oyo State Government to Take Tough Measures Against Criminals, Drivers, Violators of Safety Directives
The Oyo State Government has vowed to take tough measures against violators of government’s safety directives on ways to prevent the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus in the state. The was declared by the Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, Mr Fatai Owoseni, while featuring as a guest on a Radio station Covid-19 Situation Room, in Ibadan, the state capital, this Tuesday.
The retired Commissioner of Police said that there would be crackdown on criminals in the state. He assured the law abiding residents of the, state to go about with their lawful businesses, urging them to comply strictly with the directives of the state COVID-19 TASK FORCE chaired by Governor Seyi Makinde. He promised that criminal elements in the state would have no hiding place.
Speaking on the activities of Commercial drivers who defiled the government’s directive on the ban placed on inter – state transportation, Owoseni opined that it is appalling to note that some commercial drivers were disregarding the directive. He however said, the violators would be sanctioned appropriately.
He said that the partial lockdown would always give room for loopholes which is a source of concern for everyone when laws are put in place with such exceptions that only food items, pharmaceuticals and petroleum products are allowed to come in.
To this end, the Governor’s aide revealed that security agents in the state have concluded to embark on aggressive surveillance and patrol to ensure the safety of lives and property of residents in the state.
