WE WILL GIVE ONE MILLION BOYS, CRIMINALS, BANDITS, OTHERS A GOOD FIGHT SAYS OYO COMMISSIONER OF POLICE
The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Sina Olukolu has declared the readiness of the Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Command to put a halt to the activities of criminal elements terrorising the peace of the state.
He revealed this while featuring as a guest on a popular Radio Station programme tagged, COVID-19 SITUATION ROOM in the heart of the city. While answering questions from the Anchor, Mayor Isaac Brown, Mr Oukolu said crime and criminality form parts of the social unrest that had been in existence from time immemorial except in an utopian society which is different from what is obtainable from this side of the divide.
The Commissioner of Police, highlighted measures the Oyo Police Command have put in place to make the state inhabitable for criminals, bandits, kidnappers and gangsters. He said, the Force has redoubled its efforts to get the criminals that are still at large arrested and prosecuted. He added that Convoy Patrols have been deployed to every part of the state.
Mr Olukolu, however, said the Police, as the number one enforcer of laws are collaborating with other sister security agents to enforce total compliance to the Government’s directives in the fight against coronavirus pandemic.
He frowned at the attitude of some residents of the state who cultivate the habit of giving false information to the police regarding armed robbery incidents in their communities, warning them to desist from such act. He said, out of five hundred cases of robbery calls the command did receive, over three hundred were found to be false.
He advised members of the public to join hands with the police in the fight against crime and criminality that will enhance peaceful environment.
He added that efforts are in top gear to sensitize commercial drivers and riders on the need to adhere to social distancing among passengers as well as the number of passengers to board their vehicles, tricycles and motorcycles in the state.
