Desist From Using Olubadan Gazette to Cause Friction Between Makinde and Ladoja – Group Issues Stern Warning to Adegoke

The Ibadan Peace and Solidarity Movement (IPSM), has issued a strong warning to the President of the Jericho Businessmen Club, Oloye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, to desist from using the Oyo State Chieftaincy Law, which has been gazetted, as a yardstick to further cause disunity between Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and High Chief Rashidi Ladoja, a member of the Olubadan-in-Council and the current Otun Balogun of Ibadan.

Adegoke was said to have berated Governor Seyi Makinde for donating N10 million for the coronation of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadan.

The group, in a statement jointly issued on Tuesday by its Chairman, Akin Adeyinka, and Secretary, Kola Aderibigbe, respectively, condemned Adegoke’s action and described it as an attempt to drive a wedge between the governor and the respected Ibadan high chief.

The IPSM stated that the Oyo State Chieftaincy Law, which was recently gazetted, was not meant to be used as a tool for political vendetta or to cause disharmony among the people of Ibadan.

The group emphasised that the law was enacted to promote peace, unity, and the progress of Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State.

The group called on Adegoke to desist from using the Olubadan Gazette to pursue his personal agenda and to instead focus on promoting the development and progress of Ibadan and its people.

The IPSM warned that any further attempt to use the Olubadan Gazette to cause friction between Governor Makinde and High Chief Ladoja would be met with stiff resistance from the group.

The group, however, urged all residents of Ibadan to remain calm and focused on the task of building a better and more prosperous Ibadan, irrespective of their political, social, or cultural affiliations.
