Oyo East Local Government Chairman, Hon. Oluokun Peter Olusola, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between security agencies, religious and community leaders to tackle the current security challenges in the area.

Speaking at a monthly security meeting attended by Obas/Baales, religious leaders, Community leaders, and security agencies, he urged them to work together to put an end to hoodlum-related incidents.

In a bid to enforce compliance and curb the perpetration of hoodlum-related incidents, Oluokun stated that the salaries and allowances of any traditional ruler who fails to take decisive action or comply with the directive would be stopped.

He also commended the security agencies, particularly the police and Amotekun, for their swift and effective response in apprehending the perpetrators of the recent vandalization incidents at Oke-Apo Community health centre and other locations.

The traditional rulers, Baales, Community, and religious leaders present at the meeting assured the government of their support and readiness to collaborate in efforts to protect lives and properties in the area.

In turn, the security agencies outlined their plans for enhancing security and promised to work together to ensure maximum protection for residents.

Hon. Olusola stressed the importance of these measures, saying, “It is imperative for us to redouble our efforts in combating hoodlum-related incidents and ensuring the safety and well-being of our people. We must work together to achieve this goal.”

In conclusion, the monthly security meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to work towards improving security in Oyo East Local Government.

Olusola reiterated his call for continued collaboration and vigilance, urging all parties to report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities.

“We must all be aware and vigilant against any threat to our community,” he said. “If you see something, say something.”

The meeting adjourned with the consensus that further monthly meetings will be held to assess progress and discuss new measures to ensure the security of residents in Oyo East.
