Wole Akinleye visits Oja Agbe market inferno scene, sympathizes with victims
The Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon Akinwole Akinleye has visited the site of a devastating inferno that broke out at Oja Agbe Moniya Market causing significant damage and displacing families and businesses.
The fire outbreak which occurred around 12 midnight reportedly started in a shop and quickly spread, consuming other shops around.
During his visit, Hon Akinwole Akinleye expressed his heartfelt sympathies to victims, many of whom lost belongings and businesses to the inferno. He met with the victims and offered them words of comfort and support. “I am deeply saddened by the impact of this tragedy on our community and I want to assure that we will do everything possible to assist those affected and ensure they receive the necessary support,” he stated.
“I was informed around 1am in the midnight and as a matter of urgency, I reached out to the nearest possible fire fighters which yielded a positive response. The firefighters came here almost immediately to put the situation under control and avert further spread and damage”, he said.
While assessing the situation of the damage caused by the fire outbreak, Hon Akinwole Akinleye informed the market leaders to make available to the Local Government the necessary information needed to assist the victims.
In their response, the market leaders in joint statement expressed gratitude to the Executive Chairman for his prompt response when he was called upon in the midnight, because if not for the firefighters that he called upon, the story would have been worse. They also appreciated the Executive Chairman for coming this early morning to inspect and assess the level of damage. They urged the Executive Chairman not to relent in assisting them further to ensure adequate support is given to the victims.
The Chairman was accompanied by Hon Rafiu Kazeem Kolawole , Chief of Staff to the Local Government, Hon Abideen Adeyemi Aderinwale, his aides and others.
