In a remarkable show of appreciation, the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Ibadan South East Local Government branch, has presented an Award of Excellence to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Oluwole Alawode, in recognition of his dedication, impact, and unwavering commitment to the advancement of learning and academic excellence within the local government.
The presentation took place inside the Chairman’s office at the Council Secretariat, Mapo, Ibadan.
Leading the delegation was the NUT Chairman, Comrade Taofeek Adediran, who described Hon. Alawode as a true education-friendly leader whose policies and interventions have consistently uplifted the standard of education in Ibadan South East Local Government.
According to the NUT Chairman, Hon. Alawode’s consistent prioritization of education in his administration’s agenda has led to visible improvements in schools across the Local Government.
His administration has sponsored students for higher education, including scholarships to the First Technical University, as well as support for competitions and academic events.
“He supports educational initiatives that promote unity, excellence, and community pride.These qualities made him not only a political leader but also a visionary educational partner, which the NUT deeply appreciates” says the NUT Chairman.
In his response, Hon. Alawode expressed gratitude to the Union for the honour. He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to supporting teachers and creating an enabling environment for both teaching and learning.
The Chairman highlighted recent achievements in the education sector, including infrastructure upgrades, student scholarships, and support for co-curricular activities, as efforts driven by his belief in education as the bedrock of development.
Also present at the occasion were the Director of Administration and General Services, Mr Kayode Bamgbade the Director of Works, Engr. Temitope Adebimpe, Internal Auditor, Mr Isiak Foloruso and some education stakeholders who joined in celebrating the well-deserved recognition.
