Oyo State @ 50: Committee launches logo, theme, mascot competition
As preparations intensify for the golden jubilee of Oyo State, the committee overseeing the celebrations has officially launched a competition for the best logo, theme, and mascot.
The announcement was made on Monday by the Chairman of the Oyo State @50 Celebration Committee, Saheed Akinade-Fijabi, during a press briefing to herald the landmark event.

Describing the golden jubilee as a reflection of Oyo State’s identity, resilience, and shared aspirations, Akinade-Fijabi emphasised that the celebrations would encompass all the state’s geopolitical zones.
“We shall involve all strata of society, regardless of age, gender, religion, belief, or profession. While the Executive arm of the Oyo State Government will lead the celebrations, the Legislative, Judiciary, Traditional and Religious bodies, artisans, students, farmers, and entrepreneurs will all play an active role as we celebrate our beloved Pacesetter State,”he stated.

In line with the theme of inclusivity and creativity, the committee has invited members of the public to participate in the Oyo @50 Logo Design, Theme, and Mascot Challenge.
“We are calling on creative minds across Oyo State and beyond to submit designs that best capture the essence of our golden jubilee, our past achievements, our vibrant present, and our ambitious vision for the future,” Akinade-Fijabi said.
The chairman noted that the chosen design will serve as the official emblem for the celebrations, symbolising the pride and unity of the people of the state.
Meanwhile, prospective participants are required to submit their entries within one week via email at oyostate50@oyostate.gov.ng or through WhatsApp at 09163121000, while winners will receive substantial rewards in recognition of their contribution.
Akinade-Fijabi also urged indigenes to use the occasion to renew their commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive Oyo State.
“The winning design will become the official emblem of the Oyo @50 celebrations, representing the pride and unity of our people.”
“As we prepare for this milestone, let us collectively strive to make Oyo State greater, stronger, and more inclusive, a state that continues to lead in education, governance, enterprise, and innovation,” he concluded.
