Fear of Oriyomi Hamzat Grips Oyo as Accord Alleges Destruction of ‘Oyo Npe O Movement’ Billboard, Vows Stronger March to 2027

….The incident comes barely days after the Oyo Npe O Movement formally declared into the Accord Party on January 17, 2026, at Liberty Stadium, alongside thousands of supporters, lovers, and well-wishers across Oyo State.

The Accord Party in Akinyele Local Government has strongly condemned the destruction of its campaign billboards at Moniya Junction and Akinyele Roundabout, describing the act as a desperate, undemocratic move driven by fear of the party’s growing popularity ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

The incident comes barely days after the Oyo Npe O Movement formally declared into the Accord Party on January 17, 2026, at Liberty Stadium, alongside thousands of supporters, lovers, and well-wishers across Oyo State.

Reacting to the development in a statement from the acting Accord Media and Publicity Secretary, Akinyele Local Government, a leading figure of the party in Akinyele Local Government, Hon. Alhaji Mustapha Lateef Adegboyega, described the destruction as a clear sign of political intolerance and panic among opponents unsettled by the rapid rise of the movement.

According to him, the attempt to silence the party through vandalism will not weaken Accord but will instead strengthen its resolve and energize its supporters.

“When they said Accord had no structure and dismissed us as a so-called third force, we remained focused. Today, the same movement they mocked has become their biggest nightmare,” he said.

Hon. Adegboyega urged political actors across Akinyele Local Government and Oyo State to reject politics of bitterness, hatred, and violence, stressing that democracy thrives on free expression, dialogue, and healthy competition, not intimidation and sabotage.

He emphasised that ideological differences should be resolved through engagement and service to the people, not actions capable of threatening peace and unity.

Speaking further, Hon. Adegboyega noted that the overwhelming love and loyalty of the masses clearly reflect where the people stand, particularly in their organic support for Alhaji Abdurahmon Okikiola Oriyomi Hamzat, whom he described as a true man of the people.

According to him, Oriyomi Hamzat’s consistent compassion, grassroots presence, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of ordinary citizens have earned him a bond with the people that no act of vandalism can erase.

“The love of the masses is not written on banners alone; it is written in their hearts. No amount of intimidation can erase years of trust, service, and genuine connection with the people,” he added.

Despite the provocation, the Accord Party reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful, lawful, and issue-based politics, assuring residents that the movement will not be distracted, especially as campaigns are yet to commence officially.

Hon. Adegboyega revealed that rather than slowing the party down, the incident has galvanised more support, with increasing numbers of individuals, groups, and political stakeholders openly aligning with Accord across wards and local governments.

“The destruction of a billboard cannot destroy a movement whose foundation is the people. Accord (Oyo Npe O) is moving forward with greater momentum, wider acceptance, and renewed determination to deliver purposeful leadership for Oyo State,” he concluded.

The party once again called on all stakeholders to embrace peaceful political participation and allow the will of the people to prevail as the journey toward 2027 continues with hope, unity, and confidence.
