The lawmaker representing Ibadan North Constituency I in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide, has reaffirmed the strength and stability of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State while empowering constituents with cash support.

The two-day one-on-one meeting and empowerment programme, which was held at the Hon. Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide Constituency Office, Yemetu, Ibadan North Local Government, brought together party coordinators from Ward 1 to Ward 6, members of her Apex Team, and stakeholders from the respective wards.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Comforter dismissed rumours suggesting that the PDP was losing relevance in Oyo State, stressing that the party remains strong and united under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.

    GOVERNOR MAKINDE REMAINS THE LEADER

She stated emphatically that Governor Seyi Makinde remains the undisputed leader of the PDP in Oyo State and the South-West region, noting that his leadership has continued to strengthen the party through inclusive governance, party unity, and grassroots development. She urged party members and supporters to remain loyal and committed to the administration of Governor Makinde, whom she described as a dependable and progressive leader.

She appreciated the constituents for their continuous support for her administration and that of Governor Makinde, noting that their trust and votes made her emergence possible. The lawmaker stated that she remains open to correction, emphasising that leaders who accept constructive criticism often experience growth and progress.

Hon. Comforter assured constituents of regular engagement to enhance effective representation. She disclosed that her Apex Team would continue to represent her across the wards to strengthen grassroots connection and ensure accessibility to the people.

Describing her style of governance, she emphasised that her politics is centred on productivity and benefits for the people rather than wasteful practices. She promised not to make unrealistic pledges but assured constituents that they would continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy through her representation.

During the meeting, Hon. Comforter announced the promotion of her Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Amb. Dr. Kunle Awotiku, to the position of Senior Special Adviser (SSA).

Speaking after the announcement, the newly promoted SSA, Amb. Kunle Awotiku, expressed deep appreciation to Hon. Comforter for the confidence reposed in him through the promotion. He also disclosed that the empowerment initiative has been expanded from five beneficiaries per ward on a monthly basis to ten beneficiaries per ward.

Awotiku further stated that coordinators have been directed not to restrict supporters from having access to the lawmaker. He appealed to party members and supporters to embrace peace and unity, urging those with misunderstandings to forgive one another in the interest of collective progress.

Hon. Comforter also emphasised the unity of political representation in Ibadan, highlighting the collaborative roles of the member representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle; herself as representative of Constituency I; and Hon. Babajide Adedayo, who represents Ibadan North Constituency II and The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North. Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade.

Also, during the meeting, the sum of ₦800,000 was presented to the Yemetu–Igosun Community, covering parts of Wards 3 and 4, as support for transformer repairs.

Present to formally present the specially designed cheque were Alhaji Comrade Mustapha Boluwatife, PDP Chairman, Ibadan North Local Government; Hon. Taiwo Adebola, Leader of the Ibadan North Local Government House, representing Ward 4; and Comrade Sulaimon Adeniyi, PDP Ward 3 Chairman, representing Ward 3.

The beneficiary community was represented by Mr. Kazeem Bello Sumal, the Community Chairman, alongside Mr. Wasiu Akande, Mr. Komolafe, and Mr. Akinwale. The community had earlier requested financial assistance to fix faulty transformer cables, and Hon. Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide approved the request to ensure a lasting solution.

The sum of ₦800,000 was subsequently transferred to the community and duly received and confirmed by its representatives.

Everyone at the meeting expressed profound joy at the initiative and promised to contribute their quota to ensuring that the administration of Hon. Comforter continues to thrive.
