Days After Resigning from Makinde’s Government, Fatai Owoseni Joins Accord, Set to Obtain Gubernatorial Form

Former Special Adviser on Security Matters to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Fatai Owoseni, has joined the Accord , days after resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led administration in the state.

Sources close to the former police commissioner disclosed that consultations have reached an advanced stage ahead of his formal declaration for the party and he’s expected to obtain the gubernatorial form of the parry. A development that is already generating political conversations within Oyo State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Owoseni, who was regarded as one of Governor Makinde’s strong allies, recently stepped down from his advisory role in the administration without publicly stating his next political move.

However, political observers had linked his resignation to growing realignments within the state’s political landscape.

Before his resignation, Owoseni was believed to be nursing governorship ambitions and was widely seen as one of the loyalists interested in succeeding Governor Makinde at the Agodi Government House in 2027.

His perceived ambition reportedly suffered a setback after another key loyalist within the ruling camp emerged as the preferred political figure ahead of the next succession calculations.

Meanwhile, his imminent move to Accord is expected to strengthen the opposition party’s structure in Oyo State, especially as political actors begin early mobilisation for the next electoral cycle.

Owoseni, a retired Commissioner of Police known for his active involvement in security and public affairs, played a visible role in the Makinde administration’s security architecture and was often involved in conflict resolution and strategic engagements across the state.

Although neither Owoseni nor the Accord leadership has officially confirmed the move, insiders within the party hinted that plans are underway for a formal reception in the coming days.
