The Oyo State Shoe Makers Association has officially declared its support for the candidates of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), aligning with the Oloye Benedict Akika of Omituntun Benedict Forum (OBF).

The declaration was made during a courtesy visit by the State Executive Council of the association, where members unanimously endorsed the APM candidates ahead of the forthcoming elections.



Speaking during the visit, the State Chairman of the Oyo State Shoe Makers Association, Comrade Gaffar Olawale, said the association’s decision to support the Allied People’s Movement (APM) candidates was inspired by the remarkable achievements of Governor Seyi Makinde, particularly his commitment to infrastructural development and workers’ welfare.



According to him, the governor’s people-oriented policies have had a positive impact on artisans and small business owners across Oyo State by improving the business environment, boosting economic activities, and enhancing the livelihoods of workers. He noted that the association is optimistic that the APM candidates will sustain and build upon these developmental strides for the benefit of all residents of the state.


The Secretary said the endorsement reflects the collective decision of shoe makers across all 33 local government areas of Oyo State. He noted that the association believes the APM candidates possess the leadership qualities needed to deliver sustainable development and improve the welfare of artisans and residents across the state.
The executives emphasized that the endorsement was made on behalf of members statewide, reaffirming the association’s commitment to supporting credible leadership and good governance.
The State Executive Council present at the meeting included the Vice Chairman, Comrade Adegoke Oluwatobi; Chairlady, Comrade Opeyemi Lawal; Public Relations Officer, Comrade Obasa Oluwole; Financial Secretary, Comrade Olamilekan Adebiyi; and Secretary, Comrade Ganiyu Kehinde.
In his response, Oloye Benedict Akika appreciated the leadership and members of the Oyo State Shoe Makers Association for their confidence in Governor Seyi Makinde and APM candidates. He described the endorsement as a demonstration of the growing acceptance of the party across different sectors of the state.
Akika assured the association that the APM remains committed to implementing policies that will empower artisans, create employment opportunities, and promote economic growth throughout Oyo State.
The visit concluded with a renewed pledge by the association to mobilize its members across all 33 local government areas in support of the Allied People’s Movement and its candidates, expressing optimism that the party would record a successful outing at the polls.
